Campgrounds and RV parks near Jamestown, IN

Jamestown sits in western Boone County, Indiana, roughly halfway between Indianapolis and Crawfordsville along the I-74 corridor. That location puts RV travelers within a short drive of both private full-hookup parks and the sandstone-and-creek scenery of west-central Indiana's state parks. Old Mill Run Park and Raceview Family Campground are the closest private options for a base camp near town. A little farther out, Crawfordsville KOA Journey offers a standard KOA-style stopover, and Sugar Creek Campground and Canoe Rentals sits near Crawfordsville with paddling access on Sugar Creek. Toward Indianapolis, Indianapolis Speedway MHP caters to visitors heading to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The surrounding region is anchored by two Indiana DNR properties on Sugar Creek: Turkey Run State Park and Shades State Park, both southwest of Crawfordsville. Turkey Run's campground is open year round, while Shades runs a seasonal campground from April through October and draws hikers, paddlers, and astronomy groups for its dark skies.

Indiana state park campgrounds, including Turkey Run and Shades, use the Indiana DNR reservation system through camp.IN.gov (ReserveAmerica). Sites are reservable up to six months in advance, and weekend stays typically require a two-night minimum, with three nights on holiday weekends. Reservations can also be placed by phone at 1-866-6CAMP-IN. Private parks near Jamestown, including Old Mill Run Park, Raceview Family Campground, Crawfordsville KOA Journey, Sugar Creek Campground and Canoe Rentals, and Indianapolis Speedway MHP, book directly through each operator's website or by phone. KOA properties also accept reservations through the KOA app. For summer weekends and race dates near Indianapolis, book several months out. Weekday arrivals are usually easier to secure on short notice.
