Campgrounds and RV parks near Leesburg, IN

Water activity drives most trips. Tippecanoe Lake supports boating, paddleboarding, swimming, and fishing, with roughly 24 recorded fish species including walleye, northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, perch, and muskie. Patona Bay Resort operates a marina on the lake with public access. Smaller lakes like Hoffman are quieter and better suited to kayaks, canoes, and small fishing boats. Off the water, families can visit Tippy Creek Winery, the only farm winery in Kosciusko County, and drive south to Warsaw for the Village at Winona and lakeside dining. At Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, on-site attractions include two heated pools, mini golf, a sandy beach, pedal boat and pontoon rentals, and character interactions with Yogi Bear and friends.

Northern Indiana runs a full four-season calendar, and most private campgrounds around Leesburg operate seasonally rather than year-round. The climate is humid continental, with strong seasonal temperature swings. Summers are warm and humid with July highs around 82 degrees Fahrenheit, winters are cold with average lows near 19 degrees in January, and spring and fall bring mild temperatures with steady rain. Late May through early September is peak season on the lakes. Weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day fill first, and lakefront sites at properties like Patona Bay Resort and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort book weeks or months in advance. June is typically the wettest month, averaging around five inches of rain, though storms tend to move through quickly. Shoulder-season trips in May, September, and early October bring cooler nights, lower humidity, and better availability. Winter camping options in the area are very limited, with most private parks closed from late October through mid-April.

Expect small-lake resort camping rather than backcountry. Sites at Patona Bay Resort, Hoffman Lake Campground, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort are laid out close together, often with a mix of transient RV sites and long-term seasonal campers who return each year. Many sites sit on the channel or lakefront and offer electric and water hookups, though full 50-amp service and sewer connections vary by park and site. Roads in and around campgrounds are paved or hard-packed gravel and handle mid-size Class C and travel-trailer rigs without issue. Larger Class A coaches should confirm site length and turning radius before booking. Warsaw, ten minutes south, has full-service grocery, propane, and RV parts. Mosquitoes pick up after dusk in midsummer, so bring repellent.
