Campgrounds near New Paris, Indiana
New Paris sits in southern Elkhart County, Indiana, in the heart of Amish Country and roughly ten miles south of Goshen. The area is part of northern Indiana's lakes country, with gently rolling terrain, small kettle lakes, and river corridors along the Elkhart River. It is also within easy reach of Elkhart, widely known as the RV manufacturing capital of the country, which makes it a natural base for RV travellers, factory tours, and service stops.
Campground options within a short drive lean heavily toward privately operated RV parks with full hookups, pools, and family amenities. Patona Bay Resort and Hoffman Lake Campground offer lakeside settings for boating and fishing, while Eby's Pines RV Park and Campground sits along the Little Elkhart River with wooded sites. The Elkhart Co/Middlebury KOA Holiday and Elkhart Campground round out the choices with layouts that suit larger rigs and travellers coming off the interstate.
Most properties in the region are seasonal and cater to families, weekend travellers, and RV rally attendees.
Things to do near New Paris
The surrounding countryside is best known for Amish Country attractions. Shipshewana, about twenty-five minutes northeast, hosts one of the largest flea markets in the Midwest and a busy livestock and antique auction. Middlebury and Nappanee add heritage tours, quilt gardens along the Heritage Trail, and Amish-style restaurants and bakeries.
RV enthusiasts can tour manufacturer plants in Elkhart and visit the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum. Families staying at Patona Bay Resort or Hoffman Lake Campground can fish, kayak, and swim on-site, while Eby's Pines RV Park and Campground offers wooded walking paths and a pool. Nearby county parks such as Ox Bow and River Preserve provide paved trails, playgrounds, and river access suitable for a half-day outing.

The camping season in northern Indiana generally runs from mid-April into late October, with most private campgrounds opening in April and closing by early November. Winters are cold and snowy, and the majority of RV parks near New Paris shut down utilities and close gates for the off-season.
Late spring brings mild days, greening farmland, and the start of quilt garden displays across Elkhart County. Summer is peak season: warm, humid, and busy with family travellers, rally groups, and factory-tour visitors. Weekend sites at popular parks like Eby's Pines RV Park and Campground and the Elkhart Co/Middlebury KOA Holiday can fill several weeks out, especially around Independence Day and rally weekends.
Early fall is often the sweet spot. Days are cool and clear, bugs taper off, and harvest-season farm stands appear along the back roads. Foliage typically peaks in mid to late October before campgrounds shut down for winter.

How to book a campsite
Private campgrounds around New Paris take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. KOA properties, including the Elkhart Co/Middlebury KOA Holiday, also book through the national KOA reservation portal. For summer weekends and RV rally periods, booking four to eight weeks ahead is prudent, and holiday weekends often carry two- or three-night minimums.
Campers wanting a public-land option can look to Indiana state parks such as Chain O' Lakes and Potato Creek, both within roughly an hour's drive. Indiana DNR sites are reserved through the state's central reservation system at Camp.IN.gov, up to six months in advance.
What to expect
Most campgrounds in the area offer level gravel or grass sites with 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer at full-hookup pads. Elkhart Campground and the Elkhart Co/Middlebury KOA Holiday accommodate larger rigs and pull-throughs, while Eby's Pines RV Park and Campground and Patona Bay Resort mix wooded back-in sites with lakeside or riverside settings. Site spacing varies; some loops are close together, so leveling blocks and a sewer hose extension are useful.
Cell service on major carriers is generally reliable across Elkhart County. Expect farm traffic on county roads, occasional summer thunderstorms, and mosquitoes near lakes and rivers in mid-summer. Grocery, fuel, and RV service stops are easy to find in Goshen, Elkhart, and Middlebury.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near New Paris, IN
How much does it cost to rent an RV in New Paris, IN?
RV rental in New Paris is surprisingly affordable, especially since you're right in the heart of America's RV manufacturing capital (Elkhart County builds about 80% of the nation's RVs). Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches range $250 to $400. Because so many owners live locally, supply is strong and competition keeps pricing reasonable compared to coastal markets. To find a cheap RV rental in New Paris, book midweek, travel in shoulder seasons (April to early May or late September), and use the price filter to sort by budget. Pro tip: bundling 5+ nights often unlocks weekly discounts from hosts.

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in New Paris, Indiana. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles does not require a special endorsement or commercial driver's license (CDL) for personal RVs under 26,000 pounds, which covers essentially every rental on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older, and your ID is verified securely through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country's license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club. Most first-time renters are amazed at how straightforward the process is, you can be approved and booked in under an hour.

Most Elkhart County campgrounds also allow pets at sites, often with a small fee. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any breed or weight notes so checkout is smooth.
pumpkinvine.org/Can the RV be delivered to my campground in New Paris?
Yes, RV delivery New Paris is one of the most popular features here, and it's perfect for first-time renters. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer straight to nearby campgrounds like Elkhart Campground, Eby's Pines RV Park, or even to a private property or family driveway. They'll level the rig, hook up water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Just toggle the Delivery filter and enter your destination to see who serves your area. Since New Paris sits in the RV capital of the world, hosts here are unusually skilled at setup, you'll likely get one of the smoothest handoffs in the country.
visitelkhartcounty.com/things-to-do/rv-tourism/rv-capital/How far can I drive on an RV road trip from New Paris?

in.gov/dnr/state-parks/parks-lakes/chain-o-lakes-state-park/When is the best time to rent an RV in New Paris?
Late May through early October is prime time for your New Paris RV trip, with summer highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s and crisp, colorful falls in late September and October. June and September are the sweet spots: warm days (75 to 82°F), cool nights perfect for campfires, and fewer crowds than peak July. Winters here are genuinely cold (highs in the 30s, lows in the teens, with lake-effect snow possible from late November through March), so most owners winterize their rigs and pause listings. Spring shoulder season (mid-April to mid-May) can be lovely but expect rain. Pro tip: book around the Elkhart RV Open House in late September for an iconic local experience.
weather.gov/iwx/I have never rented an RV before, what should I expect at pickup in New Paris?
First time renting an RV? You are in great hands here, New Paris sits inside Elkhart County, the RV capital of the world, so local hosts know these machines inside and out. At pickup (or delivery), your host will give you a hands-on walkthrough: how to operate the slide-outs, awning, propane, water systems, generator, and dump procedure. They will answer every question and many provide a printed cheat sheet. You can also message the host beforehand through the RVezy app. Combined with 24/7 roadside assistance included in every booking through the renter protection plan, you are never on your own. Pro tip: arrive 45 minutes early so you are not rushed through the orientation.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Do not worry: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking through the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away anywhere in the US or Canada. Whether it is a flat tire on US-6, a dead battery at a campground near Goshen, or a generator hiccup at the Indiana Dunes, dispatch will coordinate a service tech to come to you. RVezy customer support is also available to help troubleshoot or coordinate with your host. Because you are starting your trip in the RV manufacturing heartland, parts and qualified technicians are unusually easy to find in this region. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and model number at pickup, it speeds up any service call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my New Paris rental into Michigan or across the Canadian border?
Yes, interstate travel from New Paris is easy, the Michigan state line is just about 20 minutes north, making weekend trips to Warren Dunes or Saugatuck a breeze. For Canadian border crossings (Sarnia/Port Huron is about 4 hours away), message your host first since cross-border travel must be approved on the listing and the renter protection plan must be confirmed valid for Canada. Bring your passport and the RV's registration and insurance documents. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular cross-border routes include heading up Michigan's west coast to Sleeping Bear Dunes or east into Ontario for a Niagara Falls loop. Confirm cross-border approval before booking to keep things smooth.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I expect?
Budget realistically and you'll be in great shape. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves but your tow vehicle's MPG will drop 30 to 40%. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG, and Class B campervans 16 to 22 MPG. Indiana gas prices typically run a bit below the national average (often $3.10 to $3.50 for regular near New Paris), and you'll find truck-friendly fueling at Pilot and Love's stops along the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90). For a 4-night, 400-mile trip in a Class C, plan on roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: download GasBuddy and fuel up in Indiana before crossing into Illinois or Michigan, prices often jump at the state line.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near New Paris?
For the best campgrounds near New Paris, book 4 to 8 weeks ahead for summer weekends, and as early as 6 months out for holiday weekends like Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Indiana State Park sites (Chain O'Lakes, Pokagon, Potato Creek) are reserved through camp.IN.gov, which opens reservations 6 months in advance to the day, set a calendar reminder. Private parks like Eby's Pines or Twin Mills typically book directly on their websites and fill fastest for festival weekends. Midweek availability is usually wide open even in July. Pro tip: if a state park is full, check the cancellation list 2 weeks before your trip, sites open up constantly as plans change.
camp.in.gov/What are the local driving conditions like around New Paris?
Driving an RV around New Paris is genuinely easy, this is flat farmland country with wide, well-maintained roads built for the RV industry's own oversized loads. US-6 and SR-15 are the main local arteries, and the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90) is just 15 minutes north for fast east-west travel. Watch for horse-drawn Amish buggies on county roads (you're in the heart of Indiana's Amish country, just south of Shipshewana), slow down and pass with care. Winter brings lake-effect snow squalls from November to March that can drop visibility fast. Avoid driving large Class A coaches through downtown Goshen or Nappanee at rush hour. Pro tip: SR-119 is a beautiful, low-traffic alternative for getting to LaGrange and Shipshewana.
in.gov/indot/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near New Paris?
Northern Indiana campgrounds are well-equipped and welcoming. Most private parks (Eby's Pines, Elkhart Campground, Twin Mills) offer full hookups with 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, sewer at the site, free Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and pools. State parks like Chain O'Lakes and Pokagon offer electric-only sites plus central water fills and dump stations, plan to top off freshwater before arrival and dump on the way out. Many local parks also have camp stores selling propane, firewood, and basic groceries. For a free public dump station, the rest area on the Indiana Toll Road near Howe has one. Pro tip: Pokagon State Park (60 minutes east) has a year-round toboggan run, a uniquely Indiana camping experience.
in.gov/dnr/state-parks/parks-lakes/pokagon-state-park/What's typically included inside an RV rental from New Paris?
Local rentals come remarkably well-equipped, this is the RV capital after all, and many owners take pride in stocking their rigs. Expect a fully outfitted kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, dishes, cookware), a bathroom with shower and toilet, comfortable sleeping for 2 to 10 depending on floor plan, air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most include a TV, and many offer Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, awnings with LED lights, and a generator for off-grid power. Class B campervan rental New Paris options are perfect for couples wanting nimble adventure rigs. Each listing's page details exactly what's included, plus photos. Pro tip: message the host to confirm linens and kitchenware are included; many provide them free, others charge a small fee.
visitelkhartcounty.com/things-to-do/rv-tourism/What optional add-ons and fees should I expect?
Hosts in New Paris offer popular add-ons that make your trip easier: delivery and setup (typically a per-mile fee from the host's location), linen and kitchen kits, extra generator hours, portable BBQs, bike racks, camp chairs, and outdoor mats. Mileage policies vary by listing, most include 100 to 150 free miles per day with extras at a small per-mile rate, and some offer unlimited mileage. Pickup and drop-off are usually scheduled within a set window, with delivered rigs set up before you arrive. Each listing page details exactly which add-ons and fees apply. Pro tip: bundle add-ons during the initial booking conversation, hosts often discount packages versus a-la-carte pricing.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Paris%2C%20IndianaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card at booking, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is held separately around the time of pickup and released after drop-off if everything checks out, the amount is set by the host based on the RV's value. To avoid any deposit issues, take time-stamped photos and a short video at both pickup and return, return the rig with the same fuel and propane level, and empty the waste tanks at a dump station before drop-off (or pre-purchase a dump fee from the host). Pro tip: do the pickup walkthrough carefully and note any existing scratches, smooth returns are the norm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in New Paris during winter?
Winter rentals are possible but limited. New Paris winters are genuinely cold (December through February highs in the low 30s, lows in the teens, with lake-effect snow possible), so many owners winterize their rigs from late November through March. Listings that stay open in winter are often four-season rigs with heated, enclosed underbellies, dual-pane windows, and reliable furnaces, perfect for a cozy snow adventure. Pokagon State Park's famous toboggan run typically operates late November through February and pairs beautifully with a winterized RV stay. If you are booking November to March, message the host to confirm cold-weather readiness, shore power availability at your campground, and whether skirting is recommended. Pro tip: bring a small space heater as a backup to take pressure off the propane furnace.
