Campgrounds and RV parks near Roanoke, IN

Roanoke sits in northeast Indiana between Fort Wayne and Huntington, giving RV travelers quick access to two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood-control reservoirs and the state recreation areas that surround them. The closest developed camping clusters around J. Edward Roush Lake to the south and Salamonie Lake to the southwest, both managed for boating, fishing, and camping in partnership with the Indiana DNR. Options for RV renters include Camp Timber Lake, a private park in the Huntington area, and Blue Lake Resort Campground, a small private park with lake access. Bluffton / Fort Wayne South KOA Journey sits off I-69 and provides full-hookup pull-throughs and standard KOA amenities for travelers passing through the region. On the state side, Kil-So-Quah State Recreation Area at Roush Lake historically offered electric and primitive sites, though the DNR announced the campground would close indefinitely in mid-2026, so campers should confirm status before planning a stay. Horsemens Camp - Lost Bridge West State Recreation Area on Salamonie Lake serves equestrian travelers and sits within a larger state property that also includes modern electric loops.

Sites at Indiana DNR properties, including the modern loops at Salamonie Lake, are reserved through the state system at camp.IN.gov or by phone at 1-866-622-6746. The maximum booking window is six months prior to arrival, and popular summer weekends should be booked as early as possible. Weekends require a two-night minimum and holiday weekends a three-night minimum. An Indiana gate entrance fee applies at DNR properties: $7 per vehicle for in-state plates and $9 for out-of-state plates, charged seven days a week. Private parks including Bluffton / Fort Wayne South KOA Journey, Camp Timber Lake, and Blue Lake Resort Campground are booked directly through the operator's website or phone line. KOA properties can also be reserved through the KOA app or rewards program.
