Campgrounds near Rockville, Indiana
Rockville sits in Parke County, western Indiana, and serves as the base for exploring one of the state's most heavily visited outdoor areas. The town is the seat of the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival, a fall festival attended by more than 2 million people each year that began in 1957, and it is roughly 10 miles south of Turkey Run State Park. RV renters use Rockville as a hub for the county's 31 covered bridges, Sugar Creek paddling, and the sandstone canyons north of town.
Camping options nearby split into two categories. Turkey Run State Park operates the largest public campground in the area, with more than 200 tent and RV sites with electrical hookups, picnic tables and fire pits with cooking grills. Most sites are back-in and can accommodate vehicles and trailers up to 45 feet, with a few pull-throughs for larger rigs. All sites have access to drinking water, flush and vault restrooms, and showers, and two dump stations are available onsite. Private options closer to town include Covered Bridge Campground, Peaceful Waters Campground, Turkey Run Campground, and Willow Rose RV Park.
Together, these properties give renters a mix of state-park amenities and private-park hookups within a short drive of Rockville.
Things to do near Rockville
Turkey Run State Park is the primary draw. All trails have portions that use ravine streambeds as trail surface, so some sections can become slick and trail tread uneven. Notable trails include Trail 3, known for its challenging ladders and stunning views of the sandstone gorges, and the park's suspension bridge over Sugar Creek provides additional exploration beyond the main trail system.
Beyond hiking, families can fish in Sugar Creek, which flows through the park, and cross the suspension bridge over Sugar Creek to reach many of the hiking trails. Canoe and kayak liveries operate on Sugar Creek nearby, and visitors can also see a 19th-century log church, covered bridge, and pioneer home and grist mill within the park.
In Rockville itself, the courthouse square anchors the annual covered-bridge festival and driving tours of the county's 31 historic bridges.

Turkey Run State Park is open year round, but demand is heaviest on summer weekends and throughout October. Some services are limited in the winter, and water is typically turned off from November through mid-March or April, so most RV activity centers on the warm-weather season.
Fall is the peak booking window. The Parke County Covered Bridge Festival begins on the second Friday in October and lasts 10 days, celebrating the county's 31 covered bridges, and peak season has extended further into the fall with harvest festivals and Halloween events increasing in popularity. Sites at Turkey Run and at private campgrounds around Rockville fill months in advance for those dates.
Spring brings wildflowers and higher water in Sugar Creek's canyons, and some trails involve wading through cold creekbeds. Winter is quiet and cold, with limited services at private parks and reduced amenities at the state park, though a handful of sites remain reservable for self-contained RVs willing to travel in cold weather.

Richard was very responsive to any questions that I had prior to picking unit up. Trailer was very clean and still looks like new inside. Had all the basic necessities both inside and out to ensure easy set-up. Would highly recommend this unit if you are camping in Indy area. Donnie Luce-CA

I had a great vacation and the ease of renting the camper made it so much better than staying in a hotel. Richard made it an easy transaction and was there if I needed any help. The camper was accommodating, very clean and comfortable to sleep in. I won't hesitate to do this again in the future and look forward to having another fulfilled adventure.

Great stay in this camper. It literally has everything you need or cooking, cleaning and comfort. They truly thought everything through and it made our life a whole lot easier. They had everything set up and ready to go and came and picked it up when we were done. Great stay!

How to book
Turkey Run State Park uses the Indiana DNR reservation system. Reservations for camping at Turkey Run State Park can be made online through the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reservation system or by calling the DNR directly, using 1-866-622-6746 for camping, cabins, shelters, and group camps. Reservations can be made for today and can be made up to 6 months in advance, and Indiana reservations open at 12:00 PM Noon Eastern Time, so October foliage weekends open in April.
Holiday planning matters. On holiday weekends campers are required to reserve three nights, and non-holiday weekends require two nights, either Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday. All campsites are reservable, and sites not reserved are available on a first-come first-served basis, but availability cannot be counted on, especially during the summer. Private campgrounds around Rockville book directly through their own websites or phone lines.
What to expect on-site

The campground provides electric hookups at some sites, but there are no water or sewer hookups available. Campers have access to restrooms, showers, and a dump station on-site. Electric hookups are available at most sites, with 30 and 50-amp service.
Site layout varies. Some sites present leveling challenges, particularly in wooded areas where terrain slopes significantly, and most sites are paved and located in a beautiful wooded area. Dogs are permitted in the park but must remain leashed.
Quiet hours run from 11pm until 7am, and generators may only be in operation from 7am until 11pm. Six people is the maximum number allowed at a campsite, and each site may have two tents or one camper and one small tent.
