Campgrounds and RV parks near Union City, IN

On-site activities dominate a typical Union City camping trip. Arrowhead Campground offers a library, two fishing ponds, a swimming pool, a game room, a large teepee, a kids play area, picnic tables, fire circles, and grills. Rossburg Acres Campground has stocked ponds, a 9-hole putt-putt, a pickleball court, frisbee golf, sand volleyball, a basketball court, and outdoor movies on Saturday nights during the summer season. Off-site, families can drive to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg for dirt-track racing, tour the Garst Museum in Greenville, or head to the National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton. The Darke County Greenways trail system provides paved recreational paths through the surrounding farmland for cyclists and joggers. Antique Alley along U.S. 40 draws shoppers, and Winchester and Portland both host summer county-fair events.

The camping season here runs roughly from mid-April through late October, matching the operating windows most private parks in the area follow. Arrowhead Campground operates from mid-April through late October, and Rossburg Acres Campground runs a comparable spring-to-fall calendar. Expect most parks to be closed or offering only limited seasonal-resident access outside those months. Summer is the peak stretch. Weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day fill quickly, especially around holidays and Eldora Speedway race weekends, and family-oriented parks run their full activity calendars during this window. Book several weeks ahead for July and August Saturdays. Late spring and early fall are quieter and generally cooler, with fewer bugs and better sleeping temperatures inside an RV. Severe weather is a real planning factor. Winter brings snow and ice storms, while thunderstorms capable of producing floods, hail, and tornadoes are common from spring through midsummer. Monitor National Weather Service forecasts closely from April through July.

Union City-area campgrounds are working private parks, not polished resorts. Expect gravel pads, mowed grass, and a mix of seasonal trailers alongside transient RV sites. Arrowhead Campground has roughly 120 full or partial hookup campsites that are big-rig friendly, and many are shaded and can accommodate slide-out RVs. Rossburg Acres Campground seasonal sites offer 50-amp service with sewer and water hookups, and its 36 temporary sites include 30- and 50-amp options with water. Amenities usually include bath houses with hot showers, laundry, a dump station, a pool or swimming pond, playgrounds, and stocked fishing ponds. Cell coverage is generally usable on major carriers, but on-site Wi-Fi is inconsistent, so travelers who need reliable internet should plan for a hotspot. Pets are welcome at most parks on leash, and quiet hours are enforced given the family clientele.
