Campgrounds and RV parks near West College Corner, IN

Water recreation drives most trips. The 5,200-acre Brookville Lake offers two beaches, hiking trails, boating, camping, and nationally known recreational and sport fishing. Acton Lake at Hueston Woods adds paddling, fishing, and a sandy swim beach, and the park's 200-acre old-growth beech and sugar maple forest is designated a National Natural Landmark. Horse riders have direct trail access at both Horsemans Camp at Hueston Woods State Park and Horsemens at Whitewater Memorial State Park. Whitewater Memorial has 9 miles of horseback riding trails accessed from either the day-use lot or the horsemen's campground, with the large loop trail traversing the edge of the property. For a quieter afternoon, Quakertown State Recreation Area has a 3D archery range with 23 different 3D targets located next to the camp gate, open Thursday through Sunday from April through August.

The camping season in this part of the Ohio Valley runs heaviest from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when lake swimming, boating, and horse programs are all in full operation. Swimming is typically allowed from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day each season, with the Quakertown beach now permanently closed and swimming shifted to the Mounds SRA and Whitewater Memorial beaches. Summer weekends fill fastest, especially the electric loops at Whitewater Memorial and the A and B loops at Hueston Woods. Spring and fall are the shoulder seasons and often the most comfortable for RV travel. The old-growth beech-maple forest at Hueston Woods produces a strong spring wildflower display, and fall brings hardwood color across the Whitewater River valley with cooler nights suited to campfires. Note the ongoing access change at Brookville Lake: the bridge on Dunlapsville Road over Brookville Lake, adjacent to Quakertown SRA, is closed through the recreation season, and visitors follow a detour via State Road 101 to S.R. 44 to S.R. 1 to access Quakertown SRA. Winter camping is possible at Hueston Woods, which operates a modern year-round campground, though services and concessions are reduced.

Sites in this area lean toward electric-only rather than full-hookup, so plan for water fills and dump-station use. Hueston Woods offers a modern year-round campground with more than 200 electric sites, including 20 with full hookups, and more than 100 non-electric sites, plus laundry, showers, flush toilets, and a trailer waste station. Whitewater offers 236 RV campsites with electricity; the campground does not provide water or sewer hookups at the sites, but it has restrooms with flush toilets, warm showers, and a dump station. Quakertown SRA has 91 pet-friendly campsites, all equipped with electric hookups, plus restrooms, showers, a playground, and a dump station. Indiana state parks charge a per-vehicle entrance fee on top of the site fee, collected on arrival. Shade is plentiful across the mature hardwood loops.
