Campgrounds and RV parks near Long Grove, IA

Scott County Park anchors most stays. The park has a heated swimming pool, an 18-hole golf course, Pride Lake for paddling and fishing, an equestrian area, and Walnut Grove Pioneer Village. Trail systems support hiking, biking, and horseback riding, and the same trails are used in winter. Guests at Camp Hauberg can fish and boat directly on the Mississippi, and Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals and Lundeen's Rock River Landing offer tube, kayak, and canoe options on the Rock River. In the Quad Cities, families visit the Putnam Museum, the Family Museum in Bettendorf, the John Deere Pavilion in Moline, and the riverboat cruises and casinos along the Mississippi.

The practical camping season runs from mid-April through mid-October. Scott County Park's Woodside is open mid-April through mid-October, weather permitting, with reservations accepted for stays from May through September; unreserved sites are rented first-come, first-served. Bald Eagle Campground at Scott County Park and Park Terrace at West Lake Park are the two areas that stay open year round, though water at the campsites is only available from mid-April through mid-October. The Rock Island County Forest Preserve District follows a similar pattern, with Illiniwek and Loud Thunder generally open from the first weekend of April through the last weekend of October, and water access held until overnight lows stay above freezing. Spring flooding along the Mississippi and Rock rivers can close riverside sites into May. July and August bring the warmest weather and the busiest weekends, especially around Independence Day. September and early October offer cooler nights, thinner crowds, and fall color along the river bluffs.

Scott County Park is well maintained, with modern restrooms and heated showers, paved or gravel pads, and on-site hosts selling firewood. Bald Eagle and Woodside are the strongest fits for larger rigs, with full-hookup sites and restroom and shower buildings. Wilderness and Sac-Fox are primitive, wooded, and better suited to tents and smaller vans. Park gates lock at 10:30 p.m., and no visitors are allowed after that time. River-focused parks like Camp Hauberg, Lundeen's Landing Campground and Tube Rentals, and Lundeen's Rock River Landing lean rustic, with long-term seasonal residents mixed in with nightly sites. Camp Hauberg offers 30-amp electric and water hookups rather than full sewer at the site. Expect mosquitoes near the water in summer, uneven grassy pads at some sites, and train noise along the Great River Road corridor.
