Camping near Bellevue, Kentucky
Bellevue is a small Ohio River city in Campbell County, directly across the water from downtown Cincinnati. It sits inside the larger Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky metro, which means RV travelers have options in two states within a short drive. The metro is served by I-71, I-75, and I-275, so route planning is straightforward from most directions.
Close-in RV parks cluster along the river and just inside the city. Tuckers Landing RV Park is a riverfront option roughly a short drive from downtown, and Riverfront RV Park adds another close-in choice on the water. Cincinnati Campsites sits inside the metro on the north side, and Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage in the Reading area is geared toward longer stays.
For a park setting with recreation on-site, travelers head south into Campbell County. A.J. Jolly Park & Campground is an award-winning, 1000 acre park that offers many outdoor activities. The campground normally offers RV, tent, hammock sites, and yurts, but campground status has changed for 2026, so confirm before routing there.
Things to do around Bellevue
Bellevue anchors the Northern Kentucky riverfront cluster. The Purple People Bridge and Riverfront Commons trail link the six river cities of Ludlow, Covington, Newport, Bellevue, Dayton, and Fort Thomas along a flat, walkable and bike-friendly route. The path connects most of the region's main attractions on foot or by bike.
Families gravitate to neighboring Newport, home to the Newport Aquarium, Newport on the Levee, Hofbrauhaus, and BB Riverboats. Across the river, Cincinnati adds the zoo, ballparks, and museum center.
For outdoor time south of the city, AJ Jolly offers approximately 20 miles of trails for the citizen or visitor looking to enjoy a day out on the horse, along with an 18-hole disc golf course. The lake is closed in 2026 with fishing prohibited, so plan water activities elsewhere.

The Bellevue area follows a four-season Ohio Valley pattern, and late spring through early fall is peak camping season. Summer daytime highs sit in the mid-80s Fahrenheit with humid afternoons, and thunderstorms are common. In Ohio, tornado season peaks between April and June, according to the National Weather Service. Travelers should keep a weather radio or phone alerts on during storm season.
Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and reliable color through October, which many RVers consider the region's best window. Spring warms up quickly but is the wettest stretch of the year, so muddy sites and river-level fluctuations are worth checking before arrival.
Winter is quiet and cold, with daytime temperatures often near or below freezing. Some private parks stay open year-round for full hookups, while county-run camping is seasonal. Notably, camping is closed for 2026 at AJ Jolly, so confirm status before routing there.

Easy, accommodating, comfy and all around great host and experience. Thank you for making our graduation weekend for our daughter fantastic.
Elizabeth M. - May 2025
Matt was great to work with and the RV was very nice. Would do business with again!

The trailer was easy enough to pull with our SUV and was a comfortable and cozy space for two adults for 3 nights. The A/C worked great and it was way better than tent camping. This was our first time renting a camping trailer and the owner’s first time lending. He was quick to respond to our questions. We would do it again. We used our own bedding and rugs to make it feel more homey for us.

How to book campgrounds near Bellevue
Private parks in the area, including Tuckers Landing RV Park, Cincinnati Campsites, Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage, and Riverfront RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Full-hookup sites near downtown are limited and fill first on event weekends tied to Reds and Bengals home games, festivals along the levee, and holiday weekends, so booking several weeks out is wise.
AJ Jolly Park is run by Campbell County Parks, but camping is closed for 2026. Shelter reservations remain open by calling 859-547-3681, with no online reservations this year. Travelers should confirm current-season camping status directly with the county before planning a stay there.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a metro camping experience close in and a rural county-park experience further south. Riverfront properties like Tuckers Landing RV Park and Riverfront RV Park sit on the Ohio, with barge traffic, occasional train noise, and quick access to bridges into Cincinnati. Pads are typically level with 30 and 50 amp service, and cell coverage is strong throughout the metro.
Cincinnati Campsites and Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage lean toward longer stays and monthly guests, so amenities are practical rather than resort-style. Rig-size limits vary, so measure before booking.
At AJ Jolly, the setting is a wooded county park with a lake and long trail network, though RV sites have water, 20/30 amp electric service, picnic table and fire ring with no sewer hookups in normal seasons. Ohio River flooding can affect riverfront parks in late winter and spring, so check site conditions before travel.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Bellevue, KY?
RV rental in Bellevue, KY is surprisingly affordable, especially compared to renting near big airports. Most campervans and travel trailers on RVezy start around $90 to $150 per night, while larger Class C motorhomes typically run $175 to $275 per night, and luxury Class A rigs can climb higher during Cincinnati event weekends like Bengals games or Riverfest. Pro tip: book at least 6 to 8 weeks ahead for Memorial Day, July 4th, and the Western & Southern Open, when Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati prices peak.
meetnky.com/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Bellevue, KY?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Bellevue, KY. Kentucky does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, campervans, or travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every rig on RVezy. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto club before you fly into CVG. That's it. No road test, no extra paperwork.
drive.ky.gov/Drivers/Pages/default.aspxWhat protection is included with my RVezy booking in Bellevue?
Every RV rental in Bellevue, KY booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you are never on the road alone. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real peace of mind even if a tree branch on the Licking River Greenway scrapes your awning. You choose the coverage level during checkout, not the host, so you can pick what fits your trip. Review the plan details on RVezy so you know exactly what is covered before you hit the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Bellevue RV rental?
You can book your RV rental in Bellevue, KY with confidence. RVezy sets a clear, standardized cancellation policy that includes a money-back grace period right after booking, so a quick change of plans will not sting. Refund outcomes depend on how far out from your trip you cancel, and Northern Kentucky occasionally sees Ohio River flooding or winter ice storms that can affect travel. Because RVezy (not the host) manages the policy, you get consistent treatment no matter which Bellevue listing you choose. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs for Cincinnati Reds opening day or BLINK weekend, knowing you have clear cancellation terms if life shifts.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Bellevue, KY RV rental?
Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Bellevue, KY. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see rigs whose owners welcome your four-legged co-pilot, sometimes with a small cleaning fee. Bellevue itself is a dog lover's paradise: Bellevue Beach Park along the Ohio River and the Riverfront Commons trail connecting to Newport and Dayton are leash-friendly and scenic. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, about 30 minutes south, also allows leashed pets on its hiking trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm size or breed preferences so your pup is officially on the guest list from day one.
parks.ky.gov/union/parks/historic/big-bone-lick-state-historic-siteCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Bellevue?
Yes, RV delivery in Bellevue is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to your campsite, driveway, or event location, then walk you through every system before handing you the keys. Popular delivery spots include Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, A.J. Jolly Park in Alexandria, and even tailgate setups at Paycor Stadium across the river. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts who offer it, plus their per-mile fee. Pro tip: delivery pairs perfectly with a stationary stay so you can skip city driving entirely.
parks.ky.gov/How many miles are included and how far can I travel from Bellevue?
Most Bellevue hosts include a generous daily mileage allowance, typically 100 to 150 miles per day, and a few offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer road trips. From Bellevue you're perfectly positioned for an iconic RV road trip from Bellevue: Red River Gorge is about 150 miles southeast, Mammoth Cave National Park sits 200 miles south, Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio is roughly 170 miles northeast, and Louisville's bourbon country is 100 miles west. Extra miles usually cost $0.30 to $0.50 each, so estimate your route before booking. Pro tip: ask the host about a custom mileage package if you're planning a multi-state loop.
nps.gov/maca/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Bellevue, KY?
You've got excellent options for RV camping in Bellevue and the surrounding Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area. Top picks include A.J. Jolly Park & Campground in Alexandria (about 20 minutes south, with lake access and electric sites), Big Bone Lick State Historic Site Campground (full hookups plus bison herd viewing), Indian Springs Campground in Cleves, Ohio (just across the river), and Winton Woods RV Campground in the Cincinnati Parks system. For something fancier, Cincinnati's Sharon Woods and Miami Whitewater Forest also welcome RVs. Pro tip: A.J. Jolly fills up fast on summer weekends, so reserve through the Campbell County Parks site as soon as your dates are locked in.
campbellcountyky.gov/188/AJ-Jolly-ParkWhen is the best time of year to take an RV trip from Bellevue?
Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for an RV trip from Bellevue, with daytime temperatures ranging from a comfortable 65°F in spring to mid-80s°F in July and August. May and September are local favorites because humidity drops and the riverfront festivals are in full swing, including the Cincinnati Reds season, Taste of Cincinnati, and the BLINK light festival in October. Fall foliage along the Ohio River and into the Daniel Boone National Forest peaks mid-to-late October and is genuinely spectacular. Winters get cold (20s°F to 40s°F) but some hosts rent year-round for indoor events at Heritage Bank Center. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season weekend for the best prices and thinnest crowds.
weather.gov/iln/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Bellevue beginner-friendly?
Totally, first time renting an RV is something Bellevue hosts handle every single week. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, propane, water systems, and dump procedures so nothing feels mysterious. If city driving makes you nervous, choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Bellevue, or simply ask for delivery so you skip the I-471 bridge and downtown Cincinnati traffic entirely. Once you're out of the metro, the rolling Northern Kentucky roads toward Augusta or Big Bone Lick are wide, scenic, and easy to drive. Pro tip: message your host beforehand with any questions, they expect it and love helping first-timers.
drive.ky.gov/driver-licensing/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if I have an issue on the road during my trip?
You are never stranded on an RV trip from Bellevue. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance through your protection plan, covering flat tires, lockouts, battery jumps, fuel delivery, and towing. If something more complex pops up, like a slide-out that will not retract at Big Bone Lick, your host is just a message away in the RVezy app, and RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip. Northern Kentucky also has plenty of nearby service options, including Camping World in Cincinnati and several mobile RV techs across the metro. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you pull out of the driveway so it is right there if you ever need it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Bellevue RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, multi-state RV road trips from Bellevue are not only allowed, they are encouraged. Bellevue sits right on the Ohio-Kentucky border, so you can cross into Ohio within minutes and reach Indiana, West Virginia, or Tennessee inside a half-day's drive. Canada trips may be allowed with host approval and confirmed insurance coverage, so message the host before booking if Niagara Falls is on your bucket list. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance and protection coverage stops at the southern border. Pro tip: classic loops from Bellevue include the Bourbon Trail through Lexington and Bardstown, or heading east to Red River Gorge and Hocking Hills for a long weekend.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Northern Kentucky RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second biggest cost after the rental itself, but it's very manageable in this region. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), campervans average 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Kentucky gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, often $0.20 to $0.40 cheaper per gallon than across the river in Ohio, so fill up at the Speedway or Kroger Fuel on Alexandria Pike before crossing the bridge. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, expect roughly $120 to $160 in gas. Pro tip: use the GasBuddy app to track prices along I-75 and I-71 as you head south or east.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bellevue?
For summer weekends and any holiday, lock in your campground reservation 3 to 6 months ahead, especially for the best campgrounds near Bellevue like A.J. Jolly Park and Big Bone Lick State Historic Site. Kentucky State Parks open campground reservations through the official Kentucky State Parks reservation system, typically up to 12 months in advance. Cincinnati area campgrounds like Winton Woods book through Great Parks of Hamilton County. Midweek and shoulder-season trips are much more forgiving and often available just days out. Pro tip: if your top pick is full, set a reservation alert. Cancellations happen frequently 7 to 10 days before arrival and you can pounce.
reservations.kystateparks.com/What's it like driving an RV around Bellevue and Cincinnati?
Bellevue itself is calm and walkable, but downtown Cincinnati across the river has tight streets and low clearances you'll want to avoid in a tall rig. Stick to I-471, I-275 (the beltway), and US-27 (Alexandria Pike) for easy RV-friendly routes. Watch the Big Mac Bridge and Brent Spence Bridge for traffic at rush hour, and avoid Mt. Adams' steep narrow streets entirely. Summer thunderstorms and occasional winter ice can make hills slick, so check the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's GoKY map before heading out. Pro tip: if downtown sightseeing is on your list, park the RV at a campground and Uber or take the Southbank Shuttle into the city. Stress-free and cheap.
transportation.ky.gov/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds around Bellevue?
Most established campgrounds in the Bellevue area offer full or partial hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), dump stations, hot showers, and potable water fill stations. A.J. Jolly Park has electric and water sites with a central dump, Big Bone Lick offers full hookups plus a camp store, and Winton Woods provides full-service sites with Wi-Fi. For where to park an RV in Bellevue overnight legally, stick to campgrounds rather than streets or lots, as Bellevue and Newport restrict overnight RV parking on city streets. Most parks also have laundry, playgrounds, and trails. Pro tip: top off fresh water before you leave the campground because rural fill stations get scarce once you head into the Kentucky countryside.
campbellcountyky.gov/188/AJ-Jolly-ParkWhat features and amenities come inside a typical Bellevue RV rental?
Expect more comfort than you would guess. A typical motorhome rental in Bellevue includes a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, queen or king bedding, a dinette that converts to extra sleeping space, air conditioning, furnace heat, and seatbelts for every passenger. Many rigs also come with a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi varies; some hosts provide a hotspot, others rely on your phone's data along the I-71 and I-75 corridors. Each listing on RVezy shows exact sleep counts and amenities. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count for a family RV trip Bellevue setup so everyone gets a real bed, not a couch cushion.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bellevue%2C%20KentuckyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Bellevue hosts offer a great mix of add-ons to make your trip smoother: camp chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, generator hours, bike racks, kayaks, propane refills, and even fully stocked kitchen kits. Pickup is usually at the host's location in Bellevue, Newport, Covington, or nearby Cincinnati suburbs, with RV delivery in Bellevue available for an additional per-mile fee. Mileage policies range from around 100 miles per day to RV rental with unlimited mileage on select listings, so compare carefully. Pro tip: check Instant Book listings if you are booking last minute. They confirm immediately so you can hit the road within 24 hours of finding the right rig.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bellevue%2C%20KentuckyHow do payment and the security deposit work for RVezy rentals?
Payment is handled securely through the RVezy platform. You pay your rental total at booking using a credit or debit card, with no cash or off-platform transfers needed. A separate refundable security deposit is held against your card before the trip starts, and it is released back to you a few days after a smooth return. To avoid any deposit issues, do a quick walkaround video with your host at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. Pro tip: keep all communication inside the RVezy app so everything is documented and your trip stays fully covered.
