Campgrounds and RV parks near Claryville, KY

Water recreation drives most trips in this part of Northern Kentucky. Kincaid Lake State Park centers on a 183-acre lake with a 10-horsepower motor limit, well suited to kayaking, canoeing, and quiet fishing from rental boats. The park also has hiking trails, a junior olympic swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, mini-golf, and a nine-hole golf course. AJ Jolly Park spans about 1,000 acres and includes roughly 20 miles of equestrian trails, hiker-only paths, an 18-hole disc golf course, and the Campbell County Environmental Education Center with walking trails through field, forest, and wetland habitats. Note that the AJ Jolly campground and lake are closed for the 2026 season for a dam and lake restoration project, with fishing and lake access prohibited during that period. Off the campground, Cincinnati attractions, the Newport Aquarium, and Big Bone Lick State Historic Site are all within easy driving range.

Peak camping season in Northern Kentucky runs from late spring through mid-fall. Kentucky State Parks, including Kincaid Lake, apply a two-night minimum on peak-season weekends, and longer minimums are required at most campgrounds during holiday periods. Waterfront sites at Kincaid Lake are particularly popular for fishing and fill up early. Summer brings warm, humid weather and the heaviest recreation demand, with holiday weekends often requiring longer minimum stays. Spring and fall offer cooler temperatures and lighter crowds, though spring is the wettest stretch of the year and campers should expect rain and occasional thunderstorms. Winter camping is limited. Kentucky State Parks cannot guarantee water availability at campgrounds during months when freezing temperatures are possible, so RVers traveling in December, January, or February should contact the park directly about hookups. AJ Jolly Park & Campground is closed for the entire 2026 season for dam repairs, with camping reservations set to reopen in February 2027, so plan alternative sites for that period.

Terrain in this part of Kentucky is rolling and wooded, and some campsites, particularly at Kincaid Lake State Park, are notably uneven. Bring leveling blocks. RV sites at Kincaid Lake are back-in only, with a separate primitive tent loop along the lake, and cell service can be limited in the more remote sections of the park. AJ Jolly Park historically accommodates small RVs, pop-ups, and trailers, while its equestrian area handles larger units. Big rigs should verify site length and access at any Northern Kentucky park before booking. Facilities at state and county parks generally include bathhouses with showers, picnic tables, and fire rings. Firewood is available for purchase inside Kentucky State Park campgrounds. Golf carts are permitted in state park campgrounds only with a paid permit purchased at check-in or with a disability hanging tag.
