Campgrounds and RV parks near Crestview Hills, KY

Families staying near Crestview Hills can pair urban stops in Cincinnati, the Newport Aquarium, and Devou Park with outdoor days at nearby parks. Attractions within a half hour of Big Bone Lick include the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Cincinnati Art Museum, Newport Aquarium, Devou Park, and Boone County Arboretum. At Big Bone Lick State Park, visitors can walk to view the resident bison herd and hike a network of short trails. The park has five trails totaling over four miles, including the moderate 2-mile Coralberry Trail and shorter walks to the park's bison herd. AJ Jolly Park still offers day-use recreation in 2026 even with the campground closed. Most of the park remains open during the project; only camping and lake access are paused for the 2026 season, while trails, shelters, playgrounds, disc golf, the golf course, and most other areas remain open, and the park lists roughly 20 miles of horseback trails.

The Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summer is the busiest camping window, with warm days that suit hiking and river-town day trips, but afternoon thunderstorms are common and shaded sites go quickly. Most public campgrounds run on a seasonal schedule, so summer weekends fill early. Spring and fall are the best value windows for RV travelers. Wildflowers and greening trails arrive from late March through May, while October brings reliable fall color across the Ohio River Valley. Cool nights are the norm in both shoulder seasons, so hookups with electric are useful for heating. Seasonal closures matter here. The campground at Big Bone Lick State Park operates seasonally from April through October, with full hookups available for RVs. The AJ Jolly campground is closed through the 2026 season, with reservations opening again in February 2027, and admission fees are waived for the entire 2026 park season. Private parks such as Oak Creek stay open year-round.

Campgrounds in this area range from wooded private RV parks to open state-park loops. At Big Bone Lick, sites are arranged in two main loops plus a smaller back section across open terrain, and most sites lack natural shade, which can be an issue on hot summer days. Bring sun shades or an awning extension for midsummer stays. Hookups and site sizing vary. Oak Creek offers 105 sites with a 55 ft maximum RV length, accepts big rigs, includes 6 pull-throughs, and has water and electric hookups with 20, 30, and 50 amp service. The park does not have individual sewer hookups, but staff will come to sites and pump waste so guests do not have to move to the dump station. When AJ Jolly's campground reopens in 2027, it offers both premium RV sites and equestrian facilities. Terrain can be uneven, so leveling blocks and long water and power cords are worth packing for any Northern Kentucky campground.
