Campgrounds and RV parks near Fort Mitchell, KY

Fort Mitchell sits in Kenton County just south of the Ohio River and the Cincinnati metro area, putting RV travelers within a short drive of urban attractions and rural Boone County parks. The city itself is residential, so most RV camping happens at private parks along the I-71 and I-75 corridors and at Kentucky state park facilities to the south and west. Close-in options include Tuckers Landing RV Park and Cincinnati Campsites, both convenient for visitors focused on downtown Cincinnati, Newport, and Covington. Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground and Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage sit farther out and tend to draw travelers who want quieter, more rural surroundings with easy highway access. For a public-land experience, Big Bone Lick State Park lies in Boone County, about 22 miles southwest of Covington, and preserves the site where mammoth, mastodon, and bison bones were discovered in salt and sulfur springs that attracted prehistoric megafauna. It combines a developed campground with a live bison herd, a museum, and hiking trails, and works well as a base for exploring both the Kentucky side of the river and Cincinnati attractions to the north.

Reservations at Big Bone Lick State Park are handled through the Kentucky State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica, online or by phone. Reservations must be made 1 day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 12 months in advance, and summer weekends fill early. A 1-night minimum applies during the week, with a 2-night minimum on peak-season weekends. Private parks such as Tuckers Landing RV Park, Cincinnati Campsites, Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground, and Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage each take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For holiday weekends and the Cincinnati race and festival calendar, plan to reserve at least several weeks out and confirm rig-length limits, slide-out clearance, and hookup type when booking.
