Campgrounds and RV parks near Ludlow, KY

The Ohio River corridor is the main draw. Families use Ludlow as a launch point for the Newport Aquarium, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Smale Riverfront Park, and Fountain Square, all within a short drive across the river. Devou Park in neighboring Covington offers hiking, disc golf, and skyline overlooks. Outdoor options expand quickly outside the city. AJ Jolly Park & Campground covers roughly 1,000 acres with a 200-acre fishing lake, about 20 miles of equestrian trails, an 18-hole disc golf course, and an 18-hole golf course overlooking the lake. Day-use access remains available in 2026 even though overnight camping is paused. East Fork State Park, about an hour east near Cincinnati, adds a large reservoir, a swimming beach, and multi-use trails suited to day trips from any of the nearby RV parks.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in the Ludlow area. March through May brings blooming trees and steady rain, with the wettest months typically April and May. Severe weather is possible: late spring and early summer are the local peak for tornado activity in the Cincinnati region, and afternoon thunderstorms are common through summer. Summer is the busiest booking season. Warm, humid weather runs June through August, with July highs commonly in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and dew points that often feel muggy. Weekends near Independence Day, Cincinnati Reds home stands, and river festivals push private parks to capacity, so early reservations help. Winter camping options are limited. Many private parks reduce services or close sections in the cold months. AJ Jolly Park's campground is closed for the 2026 season while park improvements are underway, though day-use access continues. Freezing temperatures from late November through March can affect water hookups at open parks, so travelers should confirm winter availability before arriving.

Sites near Ludlow range from full-hookup commercial RV parks close to the interstate to more rustic county-park loops with electric and water only. AJ Jolly Park & Campground, when open, provides water and 20/30-amp service at most sites, with 20/30/50-amp available on a smaller loop known as The Point, and does not offer sewer hookups; several loops there are best suited to pop-ups and smaller campers due to tight turning radius. Expect metro-area traffic. Interstates 71 and 75 run right past Ludlow and can back up at rush hour, especially around the Brent Spence Bridge. Bigger rigs should plan arrivals outside peak times and verify site length limits when booking, since some nearby parks cap trailers well below 40 feet and the larger loops at AJ Jolly, when reopened, list sites around 35 feet.
