Campgrounds and RV parks near Verona, KY

Verona sits in Boone County in northern Kentucky, roughly 30 miles southwest of Cincinnati and just off Interstate 71/75. The area gives RV renters quick highway access to the Cincinnati metro, the Ohio River, and rural Boone and Gallatin County backroads, while keeping overnight stays outside the busier suburbs of Florence and Erlanger. Campground options range from full-hookup private resorts to a state park loop. Boone's Landing and Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground are the closest options, with Northern Kentucky RV Park about 12 miles away by straight-line distance. Camper Village RV Park, Dry Ridge Kentucky and Big Bone Lick State Park round out the choices within a short drive. Big Bone Lick State Park is the region's headline public site. Known as the Birthplace of American Vertebrate Paleontology, it was the first site in North America to have an organized excavation, conducted by William Clark in 1807, and fossilized remains of American Mastodon, Columbian Mammoth, and Giant Ground Sloths were discovered there.

Public and private sites use different systems. Reservations for Big Bone Lick State Historic Site Campground can be made through the Kentucky State Parks reservation system online or by phone. Reservations must be made one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 12 months in advance. Private parks such as Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground, Northern Kentucky RV Park, Camper Village RV Park, Dry Ridge Kentucky, and Boone's Landing take direct bookings through their own websites or by phone. Full-hookup pull-through sites for larger rental rigs are limited, so call ahead to confirm length and slide-out clearance. For summer weekends and Cincinnati event dates, reserve as early as possible. Cancellations do open up, and text-based cancellation alert services monitor the state park system when preferred dates appear full.
