RV camping near Walton, Kentucky
Walton sits in Boone County in Northern Kentucky, roughly 30 minutes south of downtown Cincinnati along Interstate 75. The area gives RV renters quick access to the Ohio River valley, the Cincinnati metro attractions across the river, and the rolling farmland of Boone and Grant counties. Boone County sits at the entry point to western Northern Kentucky, neighboring Cincinnati and the Ohio River, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is a short drive north, which makes Walton a practical pickup base for fly-and-drive RV trips.
Campground options near Walton mix full-service private parks with a nearby state historic site. Oak Creek RV Resort and Campground and Northern Kentucky RV Park sit closest to town off I-75, while Camper Village RV Park, Dry Ridge Kentucky lies a short drive south along the same corridor. Boone's Landing offers another private option in the region.
Big Bone Lick State Park, about 20 minutes west, offers a spacious campground with 62 campsites with utility hookups, grills, and a playground, showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities at a central service building, plus a basic camp supply store on-site. Together these parks cover both quick overnight I-75 stops and multi-night family bases.
Things to do near Walton
Big Bone Lick State Park anchors the local outdoor lineup. The site is known as the Birthplace of American Vertebrate Paleontology because it was the first site in North America to have an organized excavation, conducted by William Clark in 1807, and the fossilized remains of American Mastodon, Columbian Mammoth, and Giant Ground Sloths were discovered there. Hiking enthusiasts will find five trails totaling over four miles, including the moderate two-mile Coralberry Trail and shorter walks to the park's bison herd. A museum and gift shop cover the fossil history, and picnic grounds with shelters, tables, and a playground work well for family day use.
Within about a half hour, RV renters can reach the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Cincinnati Art Museum, Newport Aquarium, Devou Park, and Boone County Arboretum. The Ark Encounter in Grant County and the Creation Museum in Petersburg are also common day-trip stops from Walton-area campgrounds.

Matt was great to work with and the RV was very nice. Would do business with again!

The trailer was easy enough to pull with our SUV and was a comfortable and cozy space for two adults for 3 nights. The A/C worked great and it was way better than tent camping. This was our first time renting a camping trailer and the owner’s first time lending. He was quick to respond to our questions. We would do it again. We used our own bedding and rugs to make it feel more homey for us.

What to expect on the ground
Private parks near Walton lean toward compact, level gravel sites with water and electric hookups, and sewer at some but not all sites. Sites can feel close together, and campers report some road noise from nearby county roads and I-75.
