Campgrounds and RV parks near Arcadia, LA

Lake Claiborne is the main outdoor draw. The 6,400-acre reservoir supports bass, bream, crappie, and catfish fishing, along with kayaking, a sandy swimming beach, and a boat launch, with kayaks, canoes, and flat-bottom boats available to rent at the state park. Two 18-basket disc golf courses wind through the park, and marked nature trails include short routes suitable for kids. In town, the Bonnie and Clyde story anchors most sightseeing. The ambush site sits about seven miles west near Gibsland, where the Bonnie & Clyde Ambush Museum displays memorabilia and a death-car replica. Bonnie & Clyde Trade Days runs Friday through Sunday before the third Monday of most months and pulls hundreds of vendors, making it a family-friendly half-day stop for RV guests already parked on site.

Sites near Arcadia range from basic gravel pads at small private parks to paved, tree-shaded sites at Lake Claiborne State Park. The state park campground sits on slopes among tall pines, and many asphalt pads have some grade, so leveling blocks are useful for larger motorhomes. The reservation system lists a 60-foot maximum length for the largest sites. Expect standard water and electric hookups at state park sites, with full hookups more common at private resorts. Cell service is generally usable but can be spotty in the pine hills. Pets are allowed on state park grounds under leash rules, with specific policies for designated pet-friendly cabins. Bring insect repellent, especially in summer near the lake, and watch for poison ivy around wooded sites.
