Campgrounds and RV parks near Banks Springs, LA

Banks Springs is an unincorporated community in Jackson Parish, north-central Louisiana, roughly halfway between Jonesboro and Winnfield. The area sits within the piney hills region, with mixed pine and hardwood forest, small lakes, and easy access via LA highways connecting to I-20 to the north. RV travelers use Banks Springs as a base for Caney Lake and the surrounding Kisatchie country. Jimmie Davis State Park, located about 45 minutes southwest of Monroe, provides 68 improved paved campsites, 17 deluxe cabins, 2 lodges, a group camp with 4 dorms and conference center, 2 boat launches, a fishing pier, 3 covered pavilions, and a swimming beach with splash pad and playground. Private options in the wider area include Ouachita RV Park, Flynn's Camping Grounds, and Pavilion RV Park, while Ouachita Sportsplex serves travelers attending tournaments and events. The region is rural. Cell coverage is spotty at lakeside sites, grocery runs typically mean driving to Jonesboro or Winnfield, and campgrounds fill quickly on holiday weekends and during fishing tournaments.

Jimmie Davis State Park reservations are handled through the Louisiana State Parks central reservation system at Go Outdoors Louisiana, online or by phone. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance and must be booked at least 48 hours before arrival. A maximum stay of 15 consecutive days applies, and weekend stays require a 2-night minimum. A non-refundable transaction fee is assessed on each reservation. Holders of the America the Beautiful pass, whose state of residence also honors the pass, are entitled to a 50 percent reduction on camping fees at Louisiana State Parks, with one site per pass. Private parks such as Ouachita RV Park, Flynn's Camping Grounds, and Pavilion RV Park take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Book state-park weekends several months out for spring and fall, and confirm rig length and slide clearance before arrival.
