Campgrounds and RV parks near Belle Chasse, LA

Belle Chasse sits on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, and it is part of the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area. For RV travellers, this means quick access to the French Quarter, Jean Lafitte National Historical Park units, and lower Plaquemines fishing communities, all from a single base. The closest state-run option, St Bernard State Park, is across the river and slightly downstream. The park is a short drive from downtown New Orleans and sits near the Mississippi River, with a network of man-made lagoons providing a natural setting. Private options cluster closer to the city itself: French Quarter RV Resort places rigs within walking distance of the Quarter, while Riverboat Travel Park, Jude Travel Park of New Orleans, and Three Oaks and Pine RV Park spread across the east-bank suburbs. The area is flat, low-lying, and easy to tow through, though drivers should note that some approach roads use levee-top routes and drawbridges. Most parks stay open year-round, so trip planning is driven by weather and events rather than seasonal closures.

St Bernard State Park is booked through the Louisiana State Parks reservation system operated by Reserve America. The park has 51 sites, each equipped with water and electrical hook-ups, a picnic table and a barbeque grill, plus a nearby bathhouse with hot showers and laundry facilities. A non-refundable fee is assessed on each reservation transaction made online, via phone, or as a walk-in, and some sites may be available only from the campground on a first-come, first-served basis. Private parks handle their own reservations. French Quarter RV Resort takes bookings directly through its website and phone line, and all sites are back-ins, with each site providing space for one RV and one tow vehicle and only one RV per site. For Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Essence Fest, and French Quarter Fest weekends, book several months out.
