Campgrounds and RV parks near Center Point, LA

The Paragon Casino Resort complex in Marksville is the anchor attraction. Beyond the gaming floor, it offers a three-screen cinema, a spa, an arcade, multiple dining choices, and the 18-hole Tamahka Trails golf course, with a shuttle running between the RV park and the casino. Families traveling with kids often build a day around Gator Grounds, which has an outdoor waterpark with slides and a lazy river, an indoor waterpark for smaller children, a splash pad, sand volleyball, and a basketball court. Each RV site includes four waterpark wristbands. Outside the resorts, the region is known for bayou fishing, birding at Grand Cote National Wildlife Refuge, and Tunica-Biloxi cultural sites in Marksville. Chicot State Park, Louisiana's largest at roughly 6,400 acres, sits within day-trip range and includes the Louisiana State Arboretum and more than 20 miles of trails.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in central Louisiana. From March through May, daytime highs sit in the mild to warm range and outdoor events pick up across the region. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and drier conditions compared with the summer months, and October and November are widely considered the ideal time to visit. Summer is hot and humid, with July and August highs regularly in the low 90s and heavy afternoon thunderstorms. Waterpark and pool amenities at parks like Gator Grounds and Paragon are a main draw during this stretch, and shaded or full-hookup sites with strong 50-amp service for air conditioning are worth prioritizing. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in late summer and early fall, so travelers should monitor forecasts. Winters are short and generally mild, with occasional cold snaps and steady rainfall. Many private parks in the area remain open year-round, and long-term site availability is easier to find outside the peak warm-weather months.

Sites in this area are generally level, with gravel, crushed limestone, or concrete pads. Full hookups with 30- and 50-amp service are standard at the larger parks, and pull-through sites are common but not universal. Shade is limited at newer resorts like Gator Grounds, where planted trees are still maturing. Cell coverage is workable but not always fast in the more rural spots, and some parks charge for higher-tier Wi-Fi. Paragon offers free Wi-Fi throughout its RV park. Expect humidity, mosquitoes in the warmer months, and the occasional passing thunderstorm. Pets are welcome at most parks, though policies on deposits and cabin stays vary. Roads into the smaller parks are paved but narrow in places, so drivers of longer rigs should scout turns and check maximum length limits, which top out around 60 feet at Gator Grounds.
