RV camping near Church Point, Louisiana
Church Point sits in Acadia Parish in the heart of Cajun Country, roughly 20 minutes north of Lafayette and inside the broader Acadiana region. The town is best known for hosting one of Louisiana's most traditional Courir de Mardi Gras celebrations, a horseback Mardi Gras run organized by the Saddle Tramp Riders Club on the Sunday before Fat Tuesday.
RV travelers use Church Point as a quiet base for exploring Cajun music halls, boudin stops, and swamp country without staying in a bigger city. Mr. Bee's RV Park sits close to the area, while Cajun Campground, Caribbean Campground and Wellness Center, Frog City RV Park, and LAcadie Inn RV Park fan out along the I-10 and US-190 corridors toward Lafayette, Rayne, and Eunice.
The surrounding parish is flat, agricultural, and easy to drive with a larger rig. Most private parks in the area cater to travelers moving along I-10 between Houston and New Orleans, so full hookups and pull-through sites are common.
Things to do around Church Point
In town, the main draws are Cajun music and food, with local dance halls booking regional musicians on weekends. The Courir de Mardi Gras, held the Sunday before Fat Tuesday, is the signature annual event and includes a children's Courir and parade the day before.
Within an hour's drive, Chicot State Park near Ville Platte offers over 6,400 acres of rolling hills and bottomland hardwood forest, a 2,000-acre lake stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and red-ear sunfish, and a hiking trail that encircles the lake. Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, on the edge of the Atchafalaya Basin, adds paddle-in swamp campsites, cabins, and a boat launch into a labyrinth of waterways. Lafayette adds restaurants, zydeco clubs, and the Vermilionville and Acadian Village heritage sites.

Fall through spring is the most comfortable stretch for RV travel in this part of Louisiana. From October through March mosquitoes drop off, temperatures stay mild, and campground availability is easier outside of festival weekends. The Church Point Courir de Mardi Gras, held the Sunday before Fat Tuesday, is the biggest booking event of the year and pulls RVers from across Acadiana.
Spring brings warm days, wildflowers, and crawfish season, along with Festival International in nearby Lafayette. It is also the peak stretch for severe thunderstorms, so travelers should watch the forecast.
Summer is hot and humid, with heat indices routinely climbing well past 100°F and afternoon thunderstorms common. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, and the Lafayette area can see tropical impacts, particularly from August through October. Full-hookup sites with 50-amp service become important for running air conditioning in this window.

Booking an RV site near Church Point
Private parks in and around Church Point, including Mr. Bee's RV Park, Cajun Campground, Caribbean Campground and Wellness Center, Frog City RV Park, and LAcadie Inn RV Park, are typically booked directly with the operator by phone or through their website. Weekly and monthly stays are common because of oilfield and travel-nurse traffic, so calling ahead is smart for peak weekends.
For nearby Louisiana State Parks such as Chicot and Lake Fausse Pointe, reservations are handled through the Go Outdoors Louisiana system and can be made up to 13 months in advance. Cabins and prime RV sites at popular parks can fill early for spring and fall weekends. For Mardi Gras week and Festival International, book as early as possible.
What to expect on the ground
The terrain around Church Point is flat rice-and-crawfish country, with rural highways, sugarcane fields, and small towns like Rayne, Branch, and Sunset within a short drive. Cell coverage on the main highways is generally solid, though it thins inside state parks; Lake Fausse Pointe in particular has very limited or no cell service.
Expect humidity year-round and mosquitoes from late spring into fall, especially at dawn and dusk. Bring insect repellent and plan on running AC through the summer. Roads are RV-friendly on the state highway network, but some state park access routes have restrictions: RV travel trailers cannot cross the pontoon bridge on the Butte LaRose approach to Lake Fausse Pointe, so the Henderson route via LA 352 is the safer choice.
Grocery, fuel, and propane are easy to find in Church Point, Rayne, and along I-10 between Lafayette and Crowley.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Church%20Point%2C%20LouisianaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Church Point?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Church Point and drive throughout Louisiana. The state does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use RVs under 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which covers virtually every motorhome, campervan, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on RVezy. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association, and you're cleared to roll down Highway 35 toward your first boudin stop.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Church Point, LA?
Every RVezy booking in Church Point includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the bayou roads with real peace of mind. You choose your coverage level at checkout (not the host), so you can match it to your comfort level, and the plan helps cover most damages to the RV during your trip. If you're planning a longer Louisiana RV trip out to the Atchafalaya Basin, stepping up to a higher coverage tier usually costs just a few dollars more per night and adds extra confidence on unfamiliar parish roads.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Church Point RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear, standardized cancellation policy that applies to every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book. If your plans shift or a tropical storm rolls through southwest Louisiana, you have flexibility built in. Cancellation outcomes depend on how far out from your trip you cancel and on circumstances like declared natural disasters. Because hurricane season runs June through November along the Gulf Coast, it's smart to book early and keep an eye on National Hurricane Center forecasts. Message your host the moment plans change so they can help shift your dates whenever possible.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Church Point?
Bringing the pup is part of the fun. Plenty of pet-friendly RV rental Church Point hosts welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) on RVezy. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see qualifying listings instantly, then message the host with your pet's size and breed to confirm any small cleaning fee. Once you're on the road, your dog will love stretching out at local RV parks in Church Point and the trails at nearby Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, about 90 minutes southeast. Pack a collapsible water bowl, Louisiana humidity is no joke for furry travelers.
lastateparks.com/parks-trails/lake-fausse-pointe-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Church Point?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. Many RV delivery Church Point hosts will drop the RV right at your campground, festival site, or driveway, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV or you'd rather skip towing through Lafayette traffic on I-10. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering this service and check their per-mile delivery fee. Popular delivery drops include local RV parks in Church Point, Lakeview Park and Beach in Eunice, and Palmetto Island State Park about 70 miles south.
lastateparks.com/parks-trails/palmetto-island-state-parkHow far can I drive on a Church Point RV trip, and how does mileage work?
You've got plenty of room to roam. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, and you'll see the included miles and per-mile overage rate right on the listing before you book. Some Church Point hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage on longer bookings, perfect for an RV road trip from Church Point to New Orleans (about 150 miles east), Houston (about 220 miles west), or up to Natchez, Mississippi (about 190 miles north). For a short hop, Avery Island and the Tabasco factory sit about 50 miles south. Ask your host upfront for a custom mileage bump, most are happy to discuss when you share your route.

Cajun Campground near Eunice has spacious sites on a large wooded property. For a state park feel, Lake Fausse Pointe State Park sits about 90 minutes southeast with cypress-shaded sites and boat access, and Chicot State Park near Ville Platte is about an hour north with full hookups and a scenic lake. Weekend stays during the Buggy Festival fill quickly, so reserve your full-hookup site at least a month ahead.
lastateparks.com/parks-trailsWhat's the best time of year to rent an RV in Church Point?
Spring and fall are absolute gold for an RV trip in Church Point. From mid-March through May, daytime highs typically sit in a comfortable 70 to 85F range with blooming wildflowers along Acadiana backroads, and September through early November brings cooler 75 to 85F days with crawfish boils and zydeco festivals in full swing. Summers (June to August) are hot and humid with highs near 90F and high heat indexes, so plan early-morning drives and campgrounds with shade and 50-amp hookups for AC. Winters are mild (40s to low 60s) and great for snowbird stays. Time your visit to early February for the Courir de Mardi Gras, Church Point's most famous tradition.
weather.gov/lch/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know what to do?
You'll be in great hands. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery), showing you how to operate the generator, hookups, slide-outs, water tanks, propane, and the AC, the part everyone wants working in Louisiana heat. If it's your first time renting an RV, choose a Class C motorhome or a small travel trailer with delivery included so you skip towing entirely. You can message your host any time during your trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is just a call away. Consider a campervan rental Church Point hosts offer for the easiest possible first trip, they drive like a large van and park almost anywhere.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking in Church Point includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering common needs like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If anything pops up, one call gets help dispatched, whether you're parked at a local RV park or pulled over along US-190. Your host is also a quick message away for questions about quirky switches or how to reset the inverter, and RVezy's customer support team backs you up before, during, and after the trip. Snap a photo of the RV's VIN and your reservation details before you leave the driveway so you can share them quickly if you ever need roadside help.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Church Point RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?
Interstate road trips are absolutely on the table. Most RVezy hosts in Church Point are happy for you to cross into Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, or Arkansas, just confirm your route in your booking message so the host can update mileage if needed. Travel into Canada is sometimes allowed depending on the host and protection coverage; ask before you book. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because the protection plan and insurance don't extend there. Popular interstate routes from Church Point include Galveston, TX (about 250 miles), the Mississippi Gulf Coast (about 200 miles), and Hot Springs, AR (about 430 miles). Fit in a fuel stop at Lake Charles for typically lower gas prices heading west.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans average roughly 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer typically 10 to 14 mpg. Louisiana consistently posts some of the lowest gas prices in the country, often below the national average, which keeps Church Point road trips wallet-friendly. For a 500-mile loop through Lafayette, New Iberia, and Avery Island in a Class C, you're looking at roughly $200 to $260 in fuel at current prices. Fill up in Crowley or Rayne before heading toward New Orleans, prices often climb once you cross the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Church Point?
A little planning goes a long way. For most weekends at private parks near Church Point and Eunice, two to four weeks ahead is plenty. For Louisiana State Parks like Lake Fausse Pointe, Chicot, or Palmetto Island, book through the official Louisiana State Parks reservation system at least 60 to 90 days out, especially for fall and spring weekends. Holiday weekends, Mardi Gras (January/February), and the Church Point Buggy Festival in early June book up fastest. If you're locked into specific dates, ask your RVezy host about delivery to a private park first, they often know which local campgrounds still have hookups available when state parks are full.
lastateparks.com/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Church Point?
Driving an RV around Church Point is refreshingly easy. The terrain is flat prairie and rice country with wide rural two-lane highways like LA-35, LA-178, and US-190, making it ideal for first-timers. Watch for occasional sugarcane harvest traffic in fall, sudden afternoon thunderstorms in summer, and the rare fog bank on early winter mornings. I-10 between Lafayette and Lake Charles can get heavy during weekday rush hours, so plan to roll between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Bridges over the Atchafalaya Basin are tall and well-marked, with no clearance issues for standard RVs under 13'6". Check Louisiana 511 before you leave, it flags accidents and high-water spots in real time across the region.

You'll find well-equipped parks throughout Acadia Parish and neighboring areas. Most local campgrounds, including Lakeview Park and Beach in Eunice, offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups (full hookups), plus picnic tables, BBQ pits, laundry, and Wi-Fi. State parks like Lake Fausse Pointe, Chicot, and Palmetto Island add boat launches, fishing piers, hiking trails, and clean bathhouses. Dump stations and potable water fill are standard at the parks listed above, so you won't need to hunt one down. The best campgrounds near Church Point for families include Lakeview Park and Beach for its beach and water features, while couples often prefer the quiet cypress-shaded sites at Palmetto Island State Park.
lastateparks.com/parks-trails/palmetto-island-state-parkWhat features and amenities come with a Church Point RV rental?
Modern comfort, every time. A typical motorhome rental Church Point listing comes fully equipped: a queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinettes, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, cookware), a bathroom with shower and toilet, AC and furnace, freshwater and gray/black tanks, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many include a generator for boondocking, a flat-screen TV, outdoor speakers, and roof-mounted solar. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot. Class C and travel trailer rentals here typically sleep 4 to 8, making them ideal for a family RV trip Church Point parents love. Ask your host about a starter kit (toilet paper, sewer hose, leveling blocks), most include it free, saving you a store run on day one.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Church%20Point%2C%20LouisianaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in Church Point, LA?
Customizing your trip is half the fun. Common add-ons from Church Point hosts include delivery and setup (priced per mile), generator hours, camping chairs and tables, linens and kitchen kits, propane fills, bike racks, and kayak rentals. Pickup is usually at the host's location in or near Church Point, and dropoff is typically the same location at the agreed time. Mileage policies vary, many listings include 100 to 150 free miles per day with a per-mile overage in the $0.35 to $0.50 range, and some offer unlimited mileage on weekly bookings. Bundle delivery plus a linens-and-kitchen kit on your first trip, you'll arrive at Lake Fausse Pointe with nothing to do but light the fire pit.
lastateparks.com/parks-trails/lake-fausse-pointe-state-parkHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental Church Point hosts list?
Payment is simple and secure, everything runs through RVezy, never cash to the host. When you book, you pay the rental total (nightly rate, fees, and your chosen protection plan) by credit card on the platform. A refundable security deposit is authorized shortly before your trip starts, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class, and it's released back to your card after dropoff once the host confirms no new damage and the tanks are handled per the listing. Do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff to protect both sides. Return the RV with the gas tank filled to the level shown at pickup, fuel disputes are a common reason deposits get partially held.
