Campgrounds and RV parks near Grand Isle, LA

Grand Isle is Louisiana's only inhabited barrier island, a narrow strip of land at the end of LA Highway 1 where the Mississippi River delta meets the Gulf of Mexico. The island sits roughly two hours south of New Orleans and is reached by a single road, so RV travelers should plan fuel and grocery stops before the final stretch down LA 1. Camping options concentrate on the island itself and along the bayou approach. Grand Isle State Park anchors the east end with pull-through RV sites a short walk from the beach and a public fishing pier that extends into the Gulf. Private options nearby include Sarah's Seaside RV Oasis, Island House RV Park, and Miles Away Properties, which cater to anglers and families looking for hookups closer to marinas and restaurants. Farther inland along the bayou route, River Oaks West RV Park serves as a staging point for travelers breaking the drive from I-10. Expect a working coastal community: shrimp boats, oil-service traffic, seafood markets, and long open beaches rather than manicured resort infrastructure.

Grand Isle State Park uses the Louisiana State Parks reservation system through reservations.gooutdoorslouisiana.com or by phone at 1-833-609-0686. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance and must be made at least 48 hours before arrival; bookings inside that window can be handled by contacting the park directly. Weekend stays require a two-night minimum, and campers must be at least 21 to reserve a site. Private parks such as Sarah's Seaside RV Oasis, Island House RV Park, and Miles Away Properties book directly through the operator. For the Tarpon Rodeo weekend in late July and for the July 4th holiday, plan to book two to three months out; spring migration weekends in April also fill quickly. River Oaks West RV Park is a useful backup along the drive down from I-10.
