Campgrounds and RV parks near Lake Arthur, LA

The lake itself is the main draw. Lake Arthur Park is the centerpiece of the town, with a beach, a boardwalk, a playground, and grills. Boat ramps along the Highway 14 corridor give access to both the lake and the Mermentau River, and local outfitters run guided fishing trips into the bayou for bass, catfish, and redfish. Birders and wildlife watchers can plan on the Creole Nature Trail and the nearby Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge for alligators and migratory waterfowl. Those wanting a milder outdoors experience can drive the Flyway Byway loop through the Jefferson Davis Parish wetlands. On the water, kayak and paddle rentals are available in the area, and evenings on the waterfront often include live music at restaurants next to the town park.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of Louisiana. The subtropical climate affects camping year-round, with high humidity and summer highs regularly near or above 90°F, so many campers prefer spring and fall visits when conditions are more moderate. March through May brings wildflowers, crawfish season, and manageable heat, while October and November are drier and cooler by local standards. Summer is hot, humid, and prone to afternoon thunderstorms, but it is also peak fishing and festival season. The Lake Arthur Regatta and July 4th celebration on the waterfront draws crowds, so sites at Myers Landing and nearby parks book up in advance. Winter in southwest Louisiana is mild and wet. Most private parks maintain year-round operations. Snowbirds heading between Florida and Texas frequently stop over along the I-10 corridor, so weeknight availability is easier to find than weekend space. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak risk in August and September, and travelers should track forecasts before committing to a Gulf-adjacent itinerary.

Campgrounds here are working RV parks, not resort destinations. Expect grassy or gravel pads, mature shade trees, and easy waterfront access rather than pools, clubhouses, and activity programs. Myers Landing is a laid-back spot right on the water, suited to fishing, kayaking, or relaxing under big oak and pecan trees, with grassy, fairly level sites and full hookups. Cell coverage is generally usable but not fast, and Wi-Fi quality varies by park. Mosquitoes and biting flies are a fact of life near the bayou, so bring repellent and screens. Roads into smaller parks can be narrow and low-lying. After heavy rain, expect soft shoulders and occasional standing water, and confirm big-rig access with the campground before arriving in a Class A or fifth wheel over 35 feet.
