Campgrounds and RV parks near Boothbay Harbor, ME

Boothbay Harbor sits on a peninsula on Maine's midcoast, roughly an hour northeast of Portland, and serves as a compact base for exploring the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, working lobster wharves, and the lighthouses of Lincoln County. RV travelers typically stay at private campgrounds strung along Route 27 and the Pemaquid peninsula rather than at state parks, since Maine's state park system offers limited hookups in this stretch of coast. Shore Hills Campground and RV Park sits about four miles from downtown Boothbay Harbor, with waterfront, wooded, and open sites and full 30 and 50 amp hookups. Boothbay Craft Brewery, Tavern and RV keeps a small lot of full-hookup pull-throughs and back-ins next to an on-site brewery and wood-fired kitchen. Gray Homestead Camping runs oceanfront sites on Southport Island with a short walk to the shore. East toward New Harbor, Sherwood Forest CampSite and Pemaquid Point Campground put travelers within walking or short-drive distance of Pemaquid Beach, Fort William Henry, and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.

Almost every campground in this region is privately run, which means bookings go directly through the campground rather than through a central state or federal reservation system. Websites, phone, and email are the standard channels. Shore Hills Campground and RV Park, for example, is known for taking reservations by phone and for not accepting credit cards, so travelers should confirm payment method when they book. Pemaquid Point Campground requires full payment at booking for stays of seven nights or less and 50 percent for stays of eight nights or more, with a fourteen-day cancellation window for any refund. Policies at Sherwood Forest CampSite, Gray Homestead Camping, and Boothbay Craft Brewery, Tavern and RV vary, so read cancellation terms before locking in dates. For July, August, and foliage weekends, reserve several months out.
