Campgrounds near Burt, Michigan
Burt sits in Saginaw County in central Michigan's Tri-Cities region, roughly halfway between Saginaw and Flint and a short drive from Frankenmuth. The area is rural and flat, with the Cass, Shiawassee, and Flint rivers draining nearby farmland into Saginaw Bay. RV travelers use Burt as a base for Bavarian-themed tourism in Frankenmuth, river fishing, and access to state game areas along the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge corridor.
Campground options within about a twenty-minute drive range from full-service resorts to fairground overflow lots. Pine Ridge RV Campground is a nearby choice, and Frankenmuth Jellystone Park Camp Resort anchors the family-resort tier a few miles east. Chesaning Show Boat Campground and the Saginaw County Fairgrounds add municipal-style options west and north, and Holiday Shores RV Park serves travelers seeking a quieter setting.
Most parks in this area cater to RVs of nearly every length, with a mix of full hookups, water-and-electric sites, and rustic tent loops.
Things to do near Burt
Frankenmuth is the region's main draw. Visitors walk to Bavarian restaurants, Bronner's Christmas Wonderland, and the Cass River boardwalk. The Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, west of Burt, offers birding boardwalks, auto tour routes, and paddling on the Flint and Shiawassee rivers.
Families with kids often build the trip around on-site amenities. Two pools, a jump pad, and mini golf are typical features at the Jellystone resort, along with a playground, game room, and camp store. Chesaning hosts small-town summer events along the Shiawassee River.
Anglers target walleye and smallmouth bass on the Cass and Shiawassee, and Saginaw Bay charters run out of Bay City, about forty minutes north.

The private campground season around Burt generally runs mid-April through mid-October, tracking Michigan's frost calendar. Water lines at most parks are winterized by late October and turned back on once overnight freezes end in spring. A handful of resort parks keep limited hookups open longer for holiday events, and the indoor heated pool and hot tub at Frankenmuth Jellystone Park remain open into early December.
Summer is the busiest window. Weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day fill quickly, especially around the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival in mid-June, the Fourth of July, and the Frankenmuth Auto Fest, held the weekend after Labor Day. Bookings often go far in advance at the resort tier.
Shoulder seasons trade crowds for cooler nights and better site availability. May and September bring comfortable daytime temperatures, active bird migration through the Shiawassee refuge, and fall color that typically peaks in mid-October across the Saginaw Valley.

How to book campgrounds near Burt
Private campgrounds in the Burt area handle reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Frankenmuth Jellystone Park accepts reservations up to one year in advance of the arrival date, with secure online reservations available around the clock, and one night's deposit is required with each reservation. Pine Ridge RV Campground and Holiday Shores RV Park take direct reservations through their operator sites.
Saginaw County Fairgrounds and Chesaning Show Boat Campground are municipal operations; travelers should contact the grounds directly for availability, since fair week and community events close overnight camping.
For nearby state land, Michigan DNR campsites, lodging, and harbors can be reserved up to six months in advance, while shelters can be booked up to twelve months out. Most state forest campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to expect at Burt campgrounds
Sites in this part of Michigan tend to be level and grassy, on former farmland, with mature shade trees at established parks and more open sun at newer loops. Full hookups are common at the resort tier, while fairground and municipal options may offer only electric and water, with a central dump station.
Cell coverage on major carriers is generally strong across Saginaw County. Grocery, propane, and RV supply stops are easy to reach in Frankenmuth, Chesaning, and Birch Run. Mosquitoes and biting flies can be heavy near river bottoms in June and July, so screens and repellent are worth packing.
Quiet hours are enforced at family resorts. At Frankenmuth Jellystone Park, small fires are permitted in contained off-the-ground units, with fire rings provided at rental units and premium sites.

Common delivery destinations include Pine Ridge RV Campground in Birch Run, Frankenmuth Jellystone Park, and Bay City State Park. Filter by "Delivery" on the search page to see hosts who offer it, then message them with your destination for a custom quote. Spring (April to mid-May) can be wet and chilly (40 to 60°F), and winters drop well below freezing with regular snow. Pro tip: book mid-September for the magical combo of Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth (third weekend) plus early fall foliage — locals quietly consider it the region's best week.
weather.gov/dtx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay starting from Burt, MI?
You'll do great — first time renting an RV in Burt is actually easier than in most places. The roads around Burt are flat, wide, and rural, so you can get comfortable behind the wheel before tackling anything tricky. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, hookups, slide-outs, the propane system, and the generator. You can also message your host before booking with any questions. If you'd rather skip the driving entirely your first time, choose a delivery-included listing and let the host park and set up the rig for you. Pro tip: take a short practice loop on M-13 or M-46 before heading to your first campground.
michigan.gov/msp/divisions/cvedWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my Burt, MI trip?
You're covered: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, no matter where your Burt, MI RV trip takes you. One call gets you help with flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical issues, whether you're parked at Bay City State Park, cruising up I-75 toward Mackinaw, or boondocking near Holloway Reservoir. Your host is also typically just a phone call or message away for quick questions about the rig's quirks. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip for anything roadside doesn't cover. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Burt, cell coverage thins out north of West Branch.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Burt, MI RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes to other states — an RV road trip from Burt into Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, or up through Michigan's Upper Peninsula is totally doable and very common. Popular cross-state runs include Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH (about 200 miles) and the Indiana Dunes (around 280 miles). Heading into Canada (Ontario is just 90 miles east via the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron) is sometimes allowed but depends on the host's insurance — message them directly before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: bring your passport even for short Canada day-trips to keep options open.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for around Burt, MI?
Realistic expectations make budgeting easy. Class C motorhomes from Burt typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG, campervans (Class B) often hit 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). Michigan gas prices generally hover near or slightly below the national average, and diesel is widely available at truck stops along I-75 and I-69. For a typical 300-mile loop from Burt to Mackinaw City and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Saginaw or Bay City before heading north — prices climb noticeably once you pass Grayling.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Burt, Michigan?
Earlier is always better, especially for Michigan state parks. Reservations for Bay City Recreation Area and other DNR-managed campgrounds open six months ahead through the Michigan DNR reservation system, and popular summer weekends (especially Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day) can sell out within minutes of opening. Private parks like Frankenmuth Jellystone and Pine Ridge RV typically book 3 to 4 months ahead for peak season. Midweek and shoulder-season (May, September) trips are far easier to plan last-minute. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly six months before your target arrival date at 8 a.m. ET and have your Recreation Passport info ready to go.
midnrreservations.com/What are the driving conditions like around Burt, MI?
Driving an RV around Burt is genuinely beginner-friendly: flat terrain, straight rural roads, and minimal mountain grades. The biggest things to watch are pothole season (March through May, when winter freeze-thaw cycles wreck the pavement), summer thunderstorms that can roll across the Saginaw Valley quickly, and deer at dawn/dusk — especially on M-46, M-83, and county roads near Burt. I-75 between Bay City and Flint can get congested on Friday afternoons. Winter brings lake-effect snow and ice, so most RVers stick to May through October. Pro tip: download the MDOT Mi Drive app before you leave to check real-time construction and incident alerts — Michigan's summer is also construction season.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Burt?
Most campgrounds near Burt, MI offer the full RV essentials. Private parks like Pine Ridge RV in Birch Run and Frankenmuth Jellystone provide full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer) at most sites, plus Wi-Fi, laundry, and dump stations. Michigan State Parks like Bay City and Burt Lake State Park typically offer electric-only modern sites with central water spigots, dump stations, and shower/restroom buildings. Potable water fills and dumps are available at most state park entrances even if you're just passing through (small fee may apply). Pro tip: arrive with at least a half tank of fresh water — Michigan's hard water is fine to drink but a quality inline filter keeps everything tasting better.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/campingWhat should I expect inside a typical motorhome rental in Burt, MI?
You'll feel right at home. A typical motorhome rental in Burt, MI comes fully equipped: real beds (queen master plus convertible dinettes/sofas), a propane stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, full bathroom with shower and toilet, roof AC and furnace, fresh/grey/black water tanks, and seat-belted seating for travel. Most listings include a TV, and many offer Wi-Fi boosters, backup cameras, and onboard generators for boondocking. Campervan rental options in Burt are typically smaller and cozier — great for couples — while Class C and Class A motorhomes sleep 4 to 8 comfortably. Listings spell out exactly what's included. Pro tip: filter by "Sleeps 6+" if you're traveling with extended family for a Frankenmuth weekend.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/campingWhat add-ons and pickup options do Burt hosts typically offer?
Burt-area hosts make it easy to customize your rig. Popular add-ons include camp chairs and outdoor tables ($10 to $25/trip), bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits ($25 to $50), generators or extra propane ($30 to $75), bike racks, and pet packages with bowls and leashes. Many hosts pre-stock the kitchen so you can roll straight to the campground. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Burt, with delivery available for an extra fee to campgrounds throughout Saginaw and Bay counties. Mileage policies vary by listing (some offer unlimited mileage), so check the listing summary before booking. Pro tip: ask for a generator add-on if you're heading to a state park with electric-only sites, nights can call for extra power.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Burt,%20MichiganHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Burt, MI?
Payment is simple and secure: everything runs through RVezy's platform, so you never hand cash or a card to the host directly. You'll pay the rental total (nightly rate, fees, chosen protection plan, and any add-ons) by credit card at booking. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment, amounts vary by host and rig type. As long as you return the RV on time, clean, refueled, and with the holding tanks emptied, the deposit is released after your trip. Pro tip: do a careful video walkaround at pickup AND dropoff, it's the single best way to keep your deposit issue-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs winter RV rental possible in Burt, Michigan?
Yes, winter RV rental in Burt is possible, though it's a smaller pool of hosts — and honestly, it can be magical for the right adventurer. Some Burt-area listings are four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces, perfect for ice-fishing trips on Saginaw Bay or a snowy stay near Frankenmuth's stunning Christmas lights at Bronner's. Most winter campers plug into shore power at parks that stay open year-round (such as private parks near Frankenmuth) rather than relying on tanks. Daytime highs from December through February typically range from 20 to 32°F, with regular snow. Pro tip: message the host to confirm winter-ready features and ask about skirting the rig — it makes a huge comfort difference in single-digit nights.
