Camping near Evart, Michigan
Evart sits along the Muskegon River in Osceola County, in central Lower Michigan, roughly 14 miles east of the US-131 and US-10 junction. The town lies alongside the Muskegon River, which anchors most of the camping and paddling in the area. Campgrounds near town cluster along the river itself and around small inland lakes to the south and west.
Within the city, Riverside Park Campground is operated by the City of Evart and offers electric and water sites along the river. A short drive north, River Country Campground and Livery is a family-friendly destination on the Muskegon that caters to both tent campers and RV enthusiasts, with 153 sites offering electric hookups and a camp store.
Osceola County operates two developed parks within easy reach: Crittenden Park on Big Lake and Rose Lake Park on Rose Lake, which sits on 48 acres with 162 campsites and a boat launch. Old Log Resort and Campground, on the Muskegon upstream toward Marion, rounds out the options with a smaller riverside layout.
Things to do around Evart
The Muskegon River is the main draw. Livery operators run tube, kayak, and canoe trips from several campgrounds. Old Log Resort offers canoe, kayak, and tube trips for groups, families, and individuals, along with camping with electric and rustic log cabins. River Country runs a similar operation from its property in Evart, with tubes, canoes, and kayaks available at its on-site livery.
Anglers fish the river for smallmouth bass and trout, and Big Lake and Rose Lake add still-water options. Rose Lake Park features 1,300 feet of beach, a swimming beach, boat launch, playground, and camp store.
Crittenden Park is located near the Pere Marquette State Trail, a paved rail-trail corridor used by cyclists and walkers that runs through the region between Reed City and Midland.

The Evart-area camping season is short. Most private and county campgrounds open in spring and close by early fall. At the two Osceola County parks, the 2026 camping season begins on May 1 and ends on September 26, and reservations are taken up to 6 months in advance. Old Log Resort runs a slightly longer window, open mid-April to December 1st.
July and August are peak, with the warmest river temperatures and the highest booking pressure at riverside sites. July is a warm summer month in Evart, with an average temperature ranging between a low of 58.1°F and a high of 77.5°F. Expect afternoon thunderstorms and higher humidity in mid-summer.
Late spring and early fall trade shorter days for cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier reservations. Months with snowfall in Evart run January through May and October through December, with January being the month with the most snowfall. Winter camping is not offered at the local municipal or county campgrounds.
How to book campsites near Evart
Reservation systems vary by operator. The Osceola County parks, Crittenden Park and Rose Lake Park, use Campspot for online booking, and the county office at (231) 832-6130 handles phone questions. The 2026 season runs May 1 through September 26, with reservations taken up to 6 months in advance.
Riverside Park Campground is run by the City of Evart, so bookings and questions go through Evart City Hall. River Country Campground and Old Log Resort take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites; riverside sites at both fill first.
For summer weekends and holidays, book waterfront sites well in advance. Weekday arrivals in May, June, and September are the easiest to secure on short notice.
What to expect on the ground
Most developed sites near Evart offer water and electric hookups, and full hookups are limited. At River Country, all sites have water and electric, some sites have sewer hookups, and there is a dump station on site. County parks and Riverside Park lean toward water-and-electric only, with a shared dump station.
Sites range from open grassy lots to shaded pine and hardwood settings. Rose Lake Park sits on 48 acres of pine and hardwood, with 160 wooded sites (most with water and electric), 12 primitive sites, and three modern bathhouses with showers and flush toilets. Expect uneven terrain at some sites and bring leveling blocks.
Cell service in and around the river campgrounds can be poor, with weak reception reported for most providers. Firewood, ice, and basic supplies are sold at the larger campgrounds; a full grocery run is easiest in Evart or Reed City.

weather.gov/grr/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Evart?

Pro tip: do a short practice loop around the campground or a quiet stretch of N River Road before heading out for your first real drive. Within 30 minutes you'll feel like a pro.
michigan.gov/msp/divisions/cvepWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?

Your host is also your direct line for questions about the RV's quirks, and RVezy's support team backs you up if anything more complex comes up. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you leave home, and snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so you have everything ready if you ever need to call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Evart RV rental on an RV road trip across Michigan or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Evart is a fantastic way to see Pure Michigan, and many hosts welcome multi-state and even cross-border travel with prior approval. Popular loops include heading north to Mackinaw City and crossing the Mackinac Bridge to the Upper Peninsula's Pictured Rocks (about 4.5 hours from Evart), or west to Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Travel into Canada (Ontario via the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, about 3 hours southeast) may be allowed with host approval and confirmation that insurance coverage extends across the border, so message before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: confirm cross-border plans in writing through the RVezy message thread so everything is documented.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for in Evart?
Budgeting fuel for your Evart trip is pretty straightforward. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 14 MPG combined), and campervans like Class B's can hit 15 to 20 MPG. Michigan regular unleaded averages around $3.20 to $3.60 per gallon in the Evart area, with stations available in town along US-10 and a few miles south in Reed City. For a typical 200-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $60 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Reed City or Big Rapids before heading north toward Cadillac, where prices can tick up slightly in the more touristy lakeshore towns.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Evart?
For the best campgrounds near Evart, book as early as you can — Michigan campers move fast. Riverside Park Campground in town accepts reservations through the City of Evart at 231-734-2181, and river-view sites 4 through 8 often sell out 2 to 3 months ahead for July and August weekends, especially around Evart Funfest. Michigan State Parks like Mitchell State Park in Cadillac use the Michigan DNR reservation system at midnrreservations.com and open bookings 6 months in advance to the day — set a calendar reminder for popular holiday weekends. River Country Campground and Mecosta Pines also book up early. Pro tip: if you strike out, check midweek availability or look at smaller county parks like Crittenden Park, which often have last-minute openings.
midnrreservations.com/What are driving conditions like around Evart?
Driving around Evart is refreshingly easy — you're in rural Osceola County where US-10 runs east-west and M-66 runs north-south, both with wide lanes, light traffic, and gentle terrain. There are no mountain passes, low bridges, or tight urban downtowns to worry about. The main thing to watch for is whitetail deer, especially at dawn and dusk on M-66 and the back roads near the Pere Marquette State Forest, so ease off the gas after sunset. Winter driving (November through March) can bring lake-effect snow squalls, so most RVers stick to May through October. Pro tip: keep an eye on the Mackinac Bridge wind advisories if your trip extends north — high-profile vehicles like RVs are sometimes restricted during big storms.

River Country Campground provides full RV hookups including sewer at many sites, plus a dump station for self-contained rigs. Crittenden Park in Sears has water, electric, and toilets. For dump-only stops, Mitchell State Park in Cadillac (30 miles north) has a public dump station, and many private parks allow non-guest dumping for a small fee ($10 to $20). Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving your campground since rural fill stations are limited, and ask your RVezy host to demonstrate the dump process during your walkthrough so it feels routine.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/campingWhat features and amenities come in an Evart RV rental?
Most RVs you'll find for rent in Evart come fully equipped for a comfortable family RV trip Evart, including a queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinettes for kids, a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, furnace, and usually a TV. Class C motorhomes and travel trailers typically sleep 4 to 8 people, with seatbelts for everyone traveling while driving. Many rigs include a generator for boondocking or running AC off-grid. WiFi is sometimes available but cellular is more reliable around Evart — Verizon and T-Mobile both have decent coverage in town. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list carefully and message the host if you need specifics like a kid-safe bunk ladder or pet-friendly flooring.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-rv-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in Evart?
When you rent an RV in Evart, hosts typically offer helpful add-ons that make life easier: bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor tables, kitchen kits, generators (sometimes included, sometimes $15 to $40 per day), portable grills, and bike racks. Many hosts also offer paid delivery to Riverside Park, River Country Campground, or your driveway anywhere within a 30-mile radius of Evart. Pickup is usually self-service at the host's home with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough, and dropoff is the reverse — clean it up, dump the tanks (or pay a dump fee, typically $40 to $75), and return on time. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a dump-fee add-on for a totally hands-off campervan rental Evart experience.
michigan.org/things-to-do/outdoorsHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure: you pay your full booking total (rental, fees, protection plan, and any add-ons) through the platform with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, with no cash exchanged with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately during your trip, with the amount set by the host and shown before you book, and it is released back to you after the trip ends and the host confirms the RV was returned in good shape. To keep things smooth, take time-stamped photos and a quick video of the RV's interior and exterior at pickup and dropoff so the condition is well documented. Pro tip: communicate any small dings or spills through the RVezy message thread immediately, transparency keeps your deposit safe and your host happy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Evart during winter for snowmobiling or ice fishing?
You can — winter RV rental Michigan adventures are growing in popularity around Evart, and a handful of RVezy hosts list four-season rigs designed for cold weather with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces. Osceola County is prime snowmobiling country with hundreds of miles of groomed trails, and ice fishing on nearby lakes like Big Lake, Rose Lake, and Lake Cadillac is fantastic from January through early March. Most public campgrounds close for winter, so look for private parks with year-round hookups or boondock with permission on private land. Pro tip: filter for four-season RVs, confirm propane and shore power capacity with your host, and pack extra blankets — January nights in Evart routinely dip into the single digits.
