Campgrounds and RV parks near Middletown, MI

Middletown sits in central Michigan within the Saginaw Bay watershed, putting RV travelers within a short drive of small-town parks, river campgrounds, and the wider Saginaw, Flint, and Frankenmuth recreation corridors. The area is flat to gently rolling farmland crossed by the Shiawassee, Cass, and Tittabawassee rivers, which together feed the wetlands of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge. In the heart of the Lower Peninsula is the Shiawassee Flats, where the Tittabawassee, Shiawassee, and Cass rivers merge to form the Saginaw River, creating one of the largest and most productive wetland ecosystems in Michigan. That mix of farmland and river bottom shapes the camping scene: most local options are private family parks or municipal river campgrounds rather than state parks, with full-hookup sites geared to motorhomes and travel trailers. Closest in are Campgrounds-R-Us, Saginaw County Fairgrounds, and Chesaning Show Boat Campground in nearby Chesaning. A short drive further out, Holiday Shores RV Park and Walnut Hills Family Campground round out the options for longer stays or family weekends. Frankenmuth, Birch Run outlets, and Saginaw itself sit within roughly half an hour, making this a practical base for both quiet river camping and day trips to bigger attractions.

Most campgrounds near Middletown are private or municipal, and each has its own reservation channel. The campground at Showboat Park in Chesaning takes bookings through the Village of Chesaning office and an online CampLife portal, with a non-refundable online reservation fee and any credit card processing fees. Saginaw County Fairgrounds, Campgrounds-R-Us, Holiday Shores RV Park, and Walnut Hills Family Campground accept reservations directly through their own sites or by phone, with many private parks also listed on third-party platforms such as Campspot and Hipcamp. For travelers extending into the wider Michigan state park system, campsites, overnight lodging, and harbor slips can be reserved 6 months to the date of arrival in advance, pavilions can be reserved one year to the date in advance, and reservations can be made at MiDNRReservations.com or by calling 1-800-447-2757. The booking window advances one day at a time on a rolling basis, and popular campgrounds and dates can fill within minutes of opening. Holiday weekends should be booked the moment the window opens.
