Campgrounds near North Branch, Michigan
North Branch sits in northeastern Lapeer County in Michigan's Thumb region, roughly halfway between Flint and the Lake Huron shoreline. The area is rural farmland and mixed woodlots, and camping options within a short drive skew toward private RV parks and county-run facilities rather than large state parks.
Closest to town, Washakie Campground and Golf pairs RV sites with an on-site 18-hole golf course and a private 15-acre lake. Attica Pines Campground sits south in Attica, and Hilltop Campgrounds is further southwest near Lapeer. Genesee Otter Lake Campground offers sites to the west in Otter Lake, and the Elba Equestrian Complex, run by Genesee County Parks, provides rustic horse camping on the Holloway Reservoir Regional Park lands.
Most of these campgrounds cater to RV travelers with electric hookups and family amenities. Renters looking for full-service parks with pull-throughs will find them at the private grounds, while equestrian and rustic options round out the mix for parties with horses or minimal hookup needs.
Things to do near North Branch
Golf is a signature draw at Washakie Campground and Golf, where campers can walk from their site to the pro shop and tavern on an 18-hole par-72 course. On-site lake fishing, swimming, and a camper cabin round out the offering for families without a full rig.
Horse owners head to Elba Equestrian Complex for miles of trails through 4,540 acres around a small inland lake within Holloway Reservoir Regional Park. Day-use trail riding is free, but bicycles are not allowed on the trails.
Beyond the campgrounds, day trips reach downtown Lapeer, the Flint Cultural Center, Frankenmuth to the north, and Port Huron and Lake Huron beaches to the east. Rural roads make for easy cycling, and inland lakes across Lapeer and Genesee counties support boating, kayaking, and pan-fish fishing throughout the warm months.

Camping season in this part of Michigan runs from spring thaw through mid-fall. Private grounds around North Branch typically open in May and close by late October, matching the pattern for the region's private and public campgrounds. Washakie and Attica Pines both operate on a May through October schedule.
Summer weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day are the busiest window. Weekday nights are noticeably easier to book, and shoulder-season stays in May, September, and early October pair mild days with lighter crowds and fall color across the hardwood stands of the Thumb.
Winter shuts most campgrounds down. Lapeer County sees roughly 13 inches of snowfall over the season and overnight lows sit well below freezing from December into February, so RV travelers planning a cold-weather visit should confirm which sites, if any, keep power and water pedestals live through the off-season.

How to book a campsite near North Branch
Private campgrounds around North Branch take reservations directly. Washakie Campground and Golf accepts nightly, weekly, monthly, and seasonal bookings by phone, and reservations are required. Attica Pines, Hilltop Campgrounds, and Genesee Otter Lake Campground take bookings through their own websites or by phone.
Elba Equestrian Complex is managed by Genesee County Parks. Camping is by reservation only, made online or through the Parks reservation office, and event bookings at the complex can preempt general camping availability, so booking early matters.
For state park alternatives farther afield, the Michigan DNR reservation system opens sites six months to the date ahead of arrival at 8:00 a.m. Eastern, and popular summer weekends can fill within minutes of the window opening.
What to expect on the ground
Expect small to mid-size grounds rather than resort-scale parks. Washakie Campground and Golf has roughly 97 sites with electric and water hookups, 30-amp service, a dump station, no tenting, an on-site tavern and grill, and a 15-acre private lake. Attica Pines Campground lists roughly 82 sites with full hookup options and 30/50 amp service, and both grounds mix seasonal residents with nightly guests.
Elba Equestrian Complex is rustic: about 25 sites with picket posts, fire rings, portable toilets, and a hand pump for potable water. Bicycles are not allowed on the trails, and alcohol is prohibited on site.
A Recreation Passport is required to enter any Michigan state park or state forest campground by vehicle, but is not needed for the private and county grounds in this area. Cell coverage is generally reliable near town and along I-69, and grocery and fuel stops are easy in Lapeer, Imlay City, and North Branch itself.

Summer highs from June through August typically run in the upper 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit with warm evenings perfect for campfires, while overnight lows generally sit in the 55 to 65 range. September brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and the start of fall color across Lapeer County's hardwood forests, which usually peak in early to mid-October. Spring (late April and May) is wonderful for wildflowers at Seven Ponds Nature Center. Most local campgrounds operate from mid-April through late October. weather.gov/dtx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through how to operate the generator, hook up to shore power, dump the tanks, deploy the awning, and run the propane systems. You can also message your host with questions before you book, so nothing is a surprise. North Branch is a small town with quiet rural roads (M-90 and M-24 are easy to navigate), making it perfect for finding your sea legs before a bigger trip. Your host is typically just a text away for RV-specific questions. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone before you leave the driveway, peace of mind made simple.

Cross-border travel into Ontario may be allowed depending on the host and insurance terms, so message the host directly through the listing before booking to confirm. One important note: travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: popular legal cross-border routes include North Branch to Niagara Falls (about 5 to 6 hours) or up the Ontario shore of Lake Huron.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a North Branch RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 mpg, and a travel trailer towed behind your truck or SUV will reduce your tow vehicle's mpg by 25 to 40 percent. Michigan gas prices typically track close to the national average. For a 300-mile weekend loop from North Branch (say, to Frankenmuth, Bay City, and back), expect to spend roughly $90 to $160 on fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Lapeer or Imlay City before heading north, where larger stations often have better pricing than rural stops along M-24 and M-53.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near North Branch?

Michigan state park campgrounds (like Holly Recreation Area, about 35 miles away, and Lakeport State Park near Port Huron) can be reserved up to six months in advance through MiDNRReservations.com, and the most popular sites go fast. Private parks in Lapeer County often book 4 to 8 weeks out for summer weekends but have more midweek flexibility. Pro tip: for a family RV trip in North Branch over Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day, lock in your campsite reservation as soon as the six-month window opens.
midnrreservations.com/What are the driving conditions like around North Branch?
Driving an RV around North Branch is refreshingly easy. The town sits at the crossroads of M-90 and M-24 in rural Lapeer County, with wide two-lane roads, gentle terrain, and minimal traffic outside rush hour. There are no mountain passes, low bridges, or tight downtown squeezes to worry about. Watch for occasional farm equipment in spring and fall, deer at dawn and dusk, and seasonal frost heaves on backroads in early spring. In winter, snow squalls can roll in fast across the Thumb. Pro tip: stick to state highways like M-24, M-53, and I-69 for the smoothest RV-friendly routes through the region.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Branch%2C%20Michigan&Filters=DeliveryHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card when you book, so there's no awkward cash exchange at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) to cover any incidentals like a missed dump fee or minor damage. As long as you return the RV in the same condition you picked it up, the deposit is released back to you shortly after your trip ends. Pro tip: take dated photos and a quick video walk-around of the RV at both pickup and drop-off in North Branch, it's the easiest way to ensure your full deposit comes back fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in North Branch during winter?
Yes, winter RV rental in North Branch is possible and can be a magical Michigan experience, though availability is more limited since most local campgrounds close from November through mid-April. Winter daytime highs in this part of Michigan average in the upper 20s to mid 30s Fahrenheit, with overnight lows often dipping into the teens or single digits, so look for four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces. Use the message feature to confirm winter readiness with your host. Pro tip: pair a winterized rental with a year-round park stay, then explore ice fishing on local lakes or snowshoeing at Seven Ponds Nature Center.
