Potterville sits in Eaton County in south-central Michigan, roughly ten miles southwest of Lansing and easily reached from I-69 and I-96. The surrounding landscape is a mix of farmland, small inland lakes, and woodlots typical of the lower peninsula, which gives RV travelers a broad selection of private parks, county-run grounds, and Michigan state park campgrounds within an hour's drive. The closest options include Lansing Cottonwood Campground on the north side of the metro, Rockey's Campground on the Chain of Five Lakes near Albion, and TTCM Bellevue Campground and the Michigan Trapshooting Association grounds to the southwest. Camp Turkeyville RV Resort near Marshall rounds out the list of larger, family-oriented parks in the area. Most sites offer at least water and electric hookups, and several private parks add sewer, laundry, and pool amenities. State recreation areas in the region layer on beaches, trails, and rustic loops for RV renters who want a quieter, more forested base.

Michigan state park and recreation area campsites are booked through the Michigan DNR's MiDNRReservations.com system or by calling the DNR reservation line. Sites can be reserved up to six months in advance of arrival on a rolling window, and popular summer weekends can fill within minutes of that window opening. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to state parks and state forest campgrounds. Private campgrounds such as Rockey's Campground, TTCM Bellevue Campground, Camp Turkeyville RV Resort, and Lansing Cottonwood Campground take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, with policies that vary by park. For holiday weekends, book six months out for state parks and at least a couple of months ahead for the larger private resorts. Most state forest campgrounds in the wider region remain first-come, first-served.
