Campgrounds and RV parks near Richland, MI

Richland sits in Kalamazoo County in southwest Michigan, surrounded by lake-and-woodland country and two large state recreation areas. RV travelers use the village as a base for water-focused trips on Gull Lake, Gun Lake, and the smaller kettle lakes carved into the region's glacial terrain. The closest full-service state option is Fort Custer Recreation Area, a 3,033-acre park between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo that features three lakes, the Kalamazoo River, a modern campground, a swimming beach, boat rentals, and more than 25 miles of multi-use trails. To the north, Gun Lake - Yankee Springs RA covers 5,200 acres in Barry County, with a 200-site modern campground on Gun Lake, a 120-site rustic campground at Deep Lake, and a separate equestrian campground. Private campgrounds fill in the gaps for families who want more amenities. Michawana Campground sits in Barry County with rolling forested terrain and lake frontage. Sharp Park Campground and Parkside Campground round out the local mix of smaller lake-oriented parks.

Michigan state parks share a single reservation system. Campsite, lodging, and harbor reservations can be made at MiDNRReservations.com or by calling 1-800-447-2757, up to six months in advance of the arrival date. Both Fort Custer Recreation Area and Gun Lake - Yankee Springs RA use this platform. Group and equestrian sites at Yankee Springs are handled by calling the park at 269-795-9081. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into all Michigan state park and forest campgrounds, in addition to the campsite booking. Private campgrounds handle their own bookings directly.
