Campgrounds and RV parks near Sturgis, MI

Sturgis sits in the southwest corner of Michigan's St. Joseph County, a mile from the Indiana state line and roughly midway between Fort Wayne and Grand Rapids. The surrounding region is farm country dotted with kettle lakes and small rivers, and most RV parks lie within a 30 to 45 minute drive of downtown. Because Sturgis itself has limited in-town camping, renters typically base out of nearby private resorts or county parks and use the city for groceries, fuel, and dining. The closest full-service option is Green Valley Campground on Fawn River Road, a family-run park with 220 shaded sites, water and electric hookups, a swimming pool, and mini golf. A short hop south across the state line brings renters to Twin Mills Camping Resort on South Twin Lake in Howe, Indiana, a large gated resort with over 500 sites in the Thousand Trails network. Hidden Pond Campground on the Prairie River in Nottawa, the St. Joseph County Grange Fair grounds in Centreville, and Shipshewana Campground-North round out the closest options and give renters flexibility on hookup level and proximity to Amish Country attractions.

Almost every campground near Sturgis is privately operated, so reservations are handled directly by each park rather than through a central state or federal system. Twin Mills Camping Resort books through its own website and the Thousand Trails and RV on the Go network, and has separate policies for nightly, monthly, and seasonal stays. Green Valley Campground and Hidden Pond Campground take reservations by phone; Hidden Pond has moved heavily toward seasonal-only sites, so nightly availability is limited. The St. Joseph County Grange Fair grounds in Centreville book through Campspot outside fair week, with over 800 water and electric sites across the property. For summer weekends, holidays, and Grange Fair week in September, plan on booking six to eight weeks ahead. Weeknights in May and October are usually available on shorter notice.
