Campgrounds and RV parks near Tawas City, MI

Tawas City sits on the northwest shore of Tawas Bay along Lake Huron in Iosco County, Michigan. The area is anchored by Tawas Point State Park, a 183-acre sand spit that has been referred to as the "Cape Cod of the Midwest" and forms Tawas Bay along Lake Huron. RV travelers use the town as a base for Lake Huron beach days, Au Sable River paddling, and the surrounding Huron National Forest. Campground options range from a state park to private RV parks and a national chain property. Tawas Point State Park offers a modern campground with electric hookups on the bay side, while Tawas River RV Park sits on the banks of the Tawas River just outside downtown and stays open year-round. Brown's Landing RV Park is a family-owned campground near the Lake Huron shore in a wooded setting, and Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday and Pt Au Gres Marina and Campground round out the nearby options. Most sites are within a short drive of downtown Tawas City and East Tawas, keeping groceries, marinas, and restaurants close at hand.

Tawas Point State Park is reserved through the Michigan DNR system at MiDNRReservations.com or by calling 1-800-44-PARKS. Sites can be booked up to six months in advance to the day, and lakefront sites for summer weekends often sell out shortly after the booking window opens at 8 a.m. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to state parks, state forest campgrounds, and state-managed boating access sites. Private campgrounds like Tawas River RV Park, Brown's Landing RV Park, Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday, and Pt Au Gres Marina and Campground take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For holiday weekends, book private parks well in advance, especially if a specific site length or full-hookup site is needed.
