Campgrounds and RV parks near Vineyard Lake, MI

Vineyard Lake sits in the Irish Hills of southern Michigan, a rolling lake-country region known for kettle lakes, hardwood forest, and a dense cluster of private and state-run campgrounds. The lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Jackson County, within Columbia and Norvell townships, about two miles east of Brooklyn and roughly an hour from Ann Arbor. That puts RV travelers within reach of Michigan International Speedway, Cambridge Junction Historic State Park, and dozens of small inland lakes. Close-in options include Juniper Hills Campground and Irish Hills Resort Campgrounds, both minutes from Vineyard Lake, plus Apple Creek Campground and RV Park and Ja Do Park Campground within a short drive. For a state-park experience, Hayes State Park anchors the area with a 654-acre unit on Wamplers and Round lakes and a modern campground with electric hookups. Most private parks in the Irish Hills are seasonal, opening in mid-spring and closing in mid-fall. Sites range from basic electric to full-hookup pull-throughs, with waterfront and beach access common on the larger lakes.

Hayes State Park reservations run through the Michigan DNR system at MiDNRReservations.com or by calling 1-800-447-2757. Campsites, overnight lodging, and harbor slips can be booked up to six months to the date of arrival in advance, and pavilion reservations open twelve months out. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to any state park, state forest campground, or state-managed boating access site. Private campgrounds including Juniper Hills Campground, Irish Hills Resort Campgrounds, Apple Creek Campground and RV Park, and Ja Do Park Campground book directly through their own websites or by phone. For race weekends at Michigan International Speedway and for major summer holidays, reserve several months out. Cancellation-alert services can help when Hayes shows sold out for a target weekend.
