Campgrounds and RV parks near Webberville, MI

The chain of small inland lakes south and east of town, together with rivers like the Shiawassee and Red Cedar, drive most outdoor time here. Walnut Hills Family Campground sits along the Shiawassee River in Durand and leans into on-site activities, including a Wibit inflatable water park on its swimming lake, which is a draw for families with kids. Taylor's Beach Campground, near Howell, offers a sandy beach and designated swimming area along with paddle boat, kayak, and fishing boat rentals, while Water's Edge Camp & Conference Center is oriented toward group and retreat use. Off-site, Lansing brings the Potter Park Zoo, the Michigan History Center, and river-trail walking along the Grand River. Golfers can play Oak Lane Golf Course on the edge of Webberville, and the Michigan Trapshooting Association hosts regular shoots for visitors who camp on the grounds during registered events.

Most private and state-run campgrounds in the Webberville area run a seasonal calendar, typically opening in spring and closing in mid to late October once overnight temperatures drop and water systems have to be winterized. Walnut Hills, for example, runs a May through late-October season. Peak demand runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, with the July 4 week and summer weekends filling first at family parks like Walnut Hills and Taylor's Beach. Late spring brings green-up, rising river levels, and cool nights that still call for a furnace on board. Summer is warm and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common; biting insects peak in June near wooded and lakeside sites. Early fall is arguably the strongest window for RV renters: daytime temperatures are comfortable, foliage color builds through October, and weekend availability improves after Labor Day. Winter camping options are extremely limited. Snow, ice, and hard freezes shut down most hookups from November through March, and travelers pursuing winter recreation generally stay in lodging rather than an RV.

Sites around the Webberville area tend to be grassy and level, set among mature hardwoods or along river and lake shorelines. Walnut Hills, for example, spans roughly 45 acres and more than 200 grassy sites along the Shiawassee River, which sets the tone for the region: family-oriented private parks with pools, beaches, or waterfronts, planned weekend activities, and a mix of pull-through and back-in sites suited to travel trailers and mid-size motorhomes. Expect full or partial hookups at private campgrounds and electric-only or rustic loops at most state facilities. Cell coverage is generally reliable across Ingham and Livingston counties on major carriers. Quiet hours are enforced at most private parks, pets are widely accepted on leash, and check-in windows commonly run mid-afternoon with an early-evening cutoff for arrivals.
