Campgrounds and RV parks near Beaumont, MS

Beaumont sits in Perry County in south-central Mississippi's Pine Belt, roughly halfway between Hattiesburg and the Gulf Coast. The town gives RV travelers access to both the De Soto National Forest and the state park system, with U.S. 98 and Highway 15 providing straightforward routes for larger rigs. Options in the area range from full-hookup private parks to state and national forest campgrounds. Paul B Johnson State Park anchors the region for RV travelers who want lakefront sites with amenities, offering a large modern campground with over 100 RV-suitable sites, most with full hookups including water, electricity, and sewer, plus a primitive tent area and more than a dozen cabins. Magnolia Sands RV Park and Compass Park offer nearby private-park alternatives, while Elevate Red Creek and Airey lake recreation area sit closer to the national forest for a more rustic stay. Paul B Johnson State Park is located about 20 minutes south of Hattiesburg, and the surrounding De Soto National Forest provides a picturesque setting for outdoor activities. That combination of forest, lake, and highway access makes Beaumont a practical base for a multi-stop Mississippi trip.

Paul B Johnson State Park uses the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks reservation system at reserve.mdwfp.com, and the park also takes bookings by phone through its office. The Mississippi State Parks reservation system now allows guests to book up to a year in advance, and unfilled tent or RV camping spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If planning a trip, book at least 48 hours in advance, and during peak season book as early as possible because the park fills up quickly. The minimum age to make a reservation is 21 years. Private parks such as Magnolia Sands RV Park, Compass Park, and Elevate Red Creek are typically booked directly with the operator, and Airey lake recreation area sites in De Soto National Forest often operate first-come, first-served.
