Campgrounds and RV parks near Belmont, MS

Belmont sits in Tishomingo County in the northeast corner of Mississippi, close to the Alabama state line and within easy reach of the Tennessee River corridor and the Bear Creek reservoir system. The area is hill country by Mississippi standards, part of the foothills of the Appalachians, with sandstone bluffs, spring-fed creeks, and mixed hardwood forest that shape most of the camping options nearby. RV travelers typically anchor a trip here around one of three park systems. Tishomingo State Park, managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, is the closest full-service state park and sits at Milepost 304 of the Natchez Trace Parkway. Just across the state line, the Bear Creek Development Authority operates Elliott Branch on Little Bear Reservoir and Piney Point on Big Bear Reservoir, both TVA-affiliated lakefront campgrounds. In town, Tiffin Service Campground and Red Bay Acres RV Resort provide simpler, hookup-focused stays for travelers who want a base near Belmont, Red Bay, and the surrounding small towns rather than a full park setting.

Tishomingo State Park reservations are handled through the Mississippi State Parks system on ReserveAmerica, with bookings accepted up to 24 months in advance and a two-day minimum lead time. The park has about 62 developed RV campsites plus primitive sites, cabins, and a group camp. The minimum age to make a reservation is 21, and some sites are held back for first-come, first-served walk-ins when availability allows. Bear Creek Development Authority campgrounds, including Elliott Branch and Piney Point, are booked directly through BCDA rather than a national portal, and cabins at Elliott Branch are reserved by phone with the BCDA office. For Tiffin Service Campground and Red Bay Acres RV Resort, contact the campground directly to confirm site type, rig length, and hookup availability before arrival.
