Campgrounds and RV parks near Caledonia, MS

The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway is the region's main draw. The Tenn-Tom offers hunting, fishing, boating, and swimming, with year-round fishing along the shoreline and tournaments held on the waterway, plus swimming from designated beaches or from a boat. Boat ramps, fish-cleaning stations, and designated swim areas are spread across the Corps recreation sites. Families find playgrounds, hiking trails, multi-use courts, picnic areas, and educational programs at the developed Corps campgrounds, and anglers can fish from the shore for bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. Bald eagles, pelicans, and migratory birds can be seen flying over the area. Hunting is permitted on Corps land in season with the required permits. Off the water, downtown Columbus offers antique shops, restaurants, and antebellum-era historic homes. Mississippi State University in Starkville and Waverly Mansion are within a short drive, and Smithville Marina to the north provides another launch point for a day on the water.

Private RV parks in the Caledonia area lean toward standard hookup sites suited to travelers passing through or staying near Columbus for work, sports, or family visits. Expect level pads, laundry, and basic amenities rather than resort features. Sites at Hidden Cove Campground RV Park, Parkwood RV Park, Pine Acres RV Park, and Mill Creek RV Park generally focus on convenience and utility service. Corps campgrounds on Columbus Lake typically feature paved concrete pads with pebble camping areas, lantern poles, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings, with most sites level and well spaced, some waterfront sites offering sewer hookups, a dump station near the entrance, and 15/30/50-amp electric plus water at all sites. The campground is partially shaded, and visitors have access to hot showers and a fish cleaning station. Cell coverage is generally reliable near Caledonia and Columbus but can weaken in wooded lakefront loops. Buy firewood locally to protect area forests from invasive pests.
