Campgrounds and RV parks near Clarksdale, MS

In town, the Delta Blues Museum, Ground Zero Blues Club, and the historic crossroads at U.S. 61 and 49 anchor most itineraries. Live music runs most nights of the week, and the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival draws crowds in August. Families can pair music stops with the Rock and Blues Museum and short drives to nearby cotton fields and historic markers along the Mississippi Blues Trail. Outdoor activity clusters across the river in Arkansas. Storm Creek Lake supports largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish fishing, along with swimming and paddling on a 425-acre lake atop Crowley's Ridge. The surrounding St. Francis National Forest adds hiking trails, wildlife viewing for whitetail deer and wild turkey, and scenic driving on the Great River Road and Crowley's Ridge Parkway, both designated National Scenic Byways.

Spring and fall are the prime RV seasons around Clarksdale. March through May brings warming temperatures, wildflowers, and one of the region's wettest stretches, with spring rainfall often exceeding four inches per month. Delta roads and low-lying campsites can flood after heavy rain, so travelers should check river gauges and Corps of Engineers advisories before heading to river-adjacent parks. Summer is hot and humid, with daytime highs routinely near 90°F and afternoon thunderstorms. The renovated Storm Creek Lake campground within Mississippi River State Park operates as a modern facility with electric, water, and sewer sites plus camper cabins, while a swim beach runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Casino RV parks in Tunica and Lula stay open year-round. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and strong color in the bottomland hardwoods of the St. Francis National Forest. Winter is short and mild but wet, with occasional freezes and rare snow. Some primitive forest sites remain seasonal, so full-hookup casino parks and the renovated Storm Creek Lake sites become the reliable cool-season options.

Delta terrain is flat, open, and easy to tow through. Approach roads to casino RV parks are paved and lit, and pads are generally level with full hookups. Expect crop-dusting activity in summer, freight-train noise near U.S. 61, and mosquitoes anywhere near standing water. Across the river, Storm Creek Lake sits on Crowley's Ridge inside the St. Francis National Forest. The renovated Mississippi River State Park sites at Storm Creek offer eleven AAA campsites with electricity, water, and sewer, plus a four-unit bathhouse with hot showers. Cell coverage in the forest is patchy, five shipping-container-style camper cabins are available for families without gear, and wildlife including deer, turkey, and raccoons is common. Bring insect repellent for spring and summer stays and confirm river-level conditions before booking sites nearest the Mississippi.
