Campgrounds near Haskell, Arkansas
Haskell sits in Saline County in central Arkansas, roughly halfway between Little Rock and Hot Springs. That location puts RV travelers within a short drive of both the interstate corridor and the Ouachita Mountains, with lakes, off-road trails, and state park camping all reachable inside an hour.
Closer to town, JBs RV Park and Campground, Oak Forest Village Mobile Home Park, and Cloud Nine RV Park LLC offer straightforward hookup sites useful as a basecamp or an overnight stop off Interstate 30. These small private parks generally handle bookings by phone or through their own websites rather than a large reservation platform.
For a full outdoor trip, Lake Catherine State Park sits on the 1,940-acre Lake Catherine in the Ouachita Mountains just outside Hot Springs, making it a convenient basecamp for exploring Hot Springs National Park and the surrounding area. Hot Springs Off-Road Park adds a specialty option for families traveling with 4x4s, side-by-sides, or ATVs.
Things to do near Haskell
Water recreation drives most trip planning in this part of Arkansas. Lake Catherine supports fishing, boating, paddling, and swimming, with a full-service marina on the lake offering boat rentals including pontoon boats, fishing boats, kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats. Land-based activities include marked hiking trails, notably the Falls Branch Trail leading to a scenic waterfall. Guided horseback rides are offered seasonally.
Off-road riders have a dedicated destination nearby. Hot Springs Off-Road Park offers 1,242 acres of scenic views and challenging rock-crawling terrain, and is home to four Jeep Badge of Honor trails in varying levels of difficulty: Snake, Rubicon Ridge, Quartz Canyon, and Fun Run.
Downtown Hot Springs, the historic bathhouses, and Hot Springs National Park round out rainy-day options within a short drive.

Central Arkansas is a three-season RV destination that also holds up for winter travel. Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day is peak season at Lake Catherine State Park, when the lake is the ideal spot to cool off from Arkansas summer heat. Expect the busiest sites, the fullest campgrounds, and the highest humidity during that stretch.
Spring and fall bring the most comfortable camping weather, with cooler nights and lower crowds. Facilities scale back somewhat in the shoulder months: the campground and picnic area are open all year, bathhouses are open all year, and restrooms are open from March through November. The marina operates seasonally, roughly Memorial Day through Labor Day, with reduced hours outside the summer peak.
Winter stays are workable for RVs with functional heat and water systems. The campground, cabins, and yurts stay open year-round, and Hot Springs Off-Road Park operates on a similar schedule with trail access available throughout the year.

How to book campgrounds near Haskell
State park sites use the Arkansas State Parks reservation system. Campsites, yurts, and cabins can be reserved online via the Arkansas State Parks website, weekend reservations require a minimum stay of two nights or three nights for holiday weekends, and online reservations can be made up to one year in advance. Sites can book up fast, especially for holiday weekends, so plan on booking at least three months in advance.
A non-refundable reservation deposit equal to the first night, plus tax, is typically required, and cancellations result in loss of that deposit. Check-in and check-out both fall in mid-afternoon.
Hot Springs Off-Road Park handles its own bookings, with online reservations available for RV sites, tent camping, and cabins. Smaller private parks near Haskell such as JBs RV Park and Campground, Oak Forest Village Mobile Home Park, and Cloud Nine RV Park LLC are typically booked directly with the operator.
What to expect on the ground
Site quality at the state park is a known quantity. The Lake Catherine campground has 70 sites divided into Camp A, B, and C areas, with 47 Class AAA sites offering full hookups including water, 50-amp electric, and sewer, and 23 Class B sites with water and 30-amp electric, and many campsites sit directly on the lakeshore. The campground accepts big rigs up to about 45 feet, with a dump station, showers, and flush toilets on site.
Rules are standard for a state park. Campsites are limited to a small number of persons per site, camping units typically consist of no more than two structures, and dogs must be leashed at all times.
At Hot Springs Off-Road Park, expect a working trailhead atmosphere rather than a quiet forest campground. At the base of the trail system, the park offers RV sites, tent camping, and cabins on site, along with an EV charging unit and a general store with snacks, apparel, and repair items. Private parks near Haskell tend toward pull-through sites suited to overnight stays.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Haskell, AR?

On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $80 to $130 per night, Class C motorhomes range from roughly $150 to $225, and larger Class A motorhomes fall in the $200 to $300 range. You can often save 15 to 25 percent versus a holiday weekend.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Haskell%2C%20ArkansasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Haskell, AR?
Good news: for nearly every RV rental in Haskell, AR your regular Class D driver's license is all you need. Arkansas only requires upgraded licensing for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of motorhomes, campervans, travel trailers, and fifth wheels on RVezy fall well under that threshold. You'll also need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward this is.
dfa.arkansas.gov/office/driver-services/commercial-drivers-license-cdl/What protection is included when I rent an RV in Haskell?
Every RV rental in Haskell, AR booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Interstate 30 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle, while roadside assistance helps with flat tires, lockouts, battery issues, or towing if something goes wrong near Hot Springs or out toward Lake Ouachita. RVezy offers different protection levels you can choose during checkout, so you pick the coverage that matches your comfort level. It is one of the reasons first-time renters book confidently, even for longer Arkansas RV trips.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Haskell RV rental?
Booking is lower risk than you might think. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every rental in Haskell, AR, and there is a grace period after booking where eligible reservations qualify for a full refund. Beyond that window, refund amounts depend on how close to your trip start you cancel and whether unusual events like severe Arkansas weather or natural disasters affect your plans. RVezy support can walk you through your specific situation. The takeaway: you can reserve your favorite motorhome rental in Haskell now and lock in dates without feeling locked in forever.

Absolutely, and you'll find plenty of pet-friendly RV rental Haskell options on RVezy. Just flip on the Pet-Friendly filter when searching and you'll see listings from hosts who welcome dogs (and often cats). Once you're on the road, Saline County and the surrounding area are dog-paradise: Lake Catherine State Park has leashed pet access on trails and camping loops, DeGray Lake Resort State Park welcomes pets at most campsites, and the trails around Hot Springs National Park (about 30 miles west) allow leashed dogs on nearly every path. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, Arkansas summers get hot and your pup will thank you.
nps.gov/hosp/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Haskell?
Yes, RV delivery in Haskell is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are a first-time renter nervous about driving a big rig. Many RVezy hosts will deliver the motorhome or travel trailer directly to your campsite at Lake Catherine State Park, DeGray Lake Resort, or even your driveway in Benton or Bryant. They will level it, hook up water and electric, and walk you through every system before they leave. Toggle the Delivery filter when searching, and message the host with your destination address to confirm distance and any delivery fee. Show up, unpack, relax: that is it.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/lake-catherineHow far can I drive from Haskell on a typical RV rental?
You can cover serious ground from Haskell, especially with an RV rental with unlimited mileage (some RVezy hosts offer this, just look for it on the listing). Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance of 100 to 150 miles with a modest per-mile fee beyond that, which is plenty for the area's best trips. Hot Springs National Park is just 31 miles west, Little Rock is about 27 miles northeast, Petit Jean State Park sits roughly 80 miles north, and the Ouachita National Forest stretches out within a 60 to 90 minute drive. Pro tip: estimate your route before booking and message hosts directly to negotiate higher mileage caps for longer Arkansas adventures.

arkansasstateparks.com/parks/lake-catherineWhen is the best time to visit Haskell for an RV trip?
Spring (March through May) and fall (late September through early November) are the sweet spots for a Haskell, AR RV trip. Daytime highs sit comfortably in the 60s to upper 70s, evenings cool off nicely for campfires, and humidity drops compared to summer. April brings blooming dogwoods and lush hardwood forests around Lake Catherine; October delivers fiery foliage across the Ouachitas. Summer (June through August) is hot and humid with highs near 92°F and a punishing heat index, though lakes make it worthwhile if you crave swimming. Winters are mild (highs in the upper 40s and low 50s) with rare snow, so off-season RV camping is genuinely doable here.
weather.gov/lzk/I have never rented an RV before. How do I know what I am doing?
First time renting an RV? You are in good hands. Every RVezy host meets you at pickup (or at your delivery location) for a hands-on walkthrough covering propane, slide-outs, the generator, the toilet system, awning, leveling, and how to dump tanks. They will share their phone number so you can text questions mid-trip, and RVezy support is available 24/7 if you need backup. For your first RV rental in Arkansas, consider a Class C motorhome or a travel trailer in the 20 to 25 foot range, easier to maneuver on Highway 67 and roomy enough for a family. Pro tip: do a short test drive in the host neighborhood before heading toward Hot Springs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180454-Renting-an-RVWhat happens if something breaks down on my trip?
You are covered. Every Haskell RV trip booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Interstate 30, a dead battery near Lake Ouachita, or a lockout at DeGray Lake gets handled with one phone call. Your host is also a direct lifeline; most respond by text within minutes and can troubleshoot common issues like a tripped breaker or a stuck slide-out. RVezy customer support is reachable around the clock for anything bigger. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV roadside assistance card and save the host number to your phone before you pull out of the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Haskell RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Haskell across state lines is one of the most popular ways to use these rentals. You're a quick drive from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Mississippi, all reachable in 3 to 7 hours. Cross-border travel to Canada may also be allowed but depends on the specific host and insurance coverage, so message the host directly from the listing before booking. One firm rule: travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Popular multi-state routes from Haskell include Hot Springs to Memphis (about 170 miles east) and Haskell to Branson, Missouri (around 240 miles north).
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat should I budget for fuel on a Haskell RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second biggest expense after the rental itself, but it's predictable. In Arkansas, gas typically runs cheaper than the national average (often around $2.90 to $3.20 per gallon as of 2026). Expect 7 to 10 mpg for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, 18 to 22 mpg for a Class B campervan, and 12 to 16 mpg for the truck towing a travel trailer. A 300-mile loop from Haskell to Hot Springs to DeGray Lake and back might run $80 to $120 in gas for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Benton or Bryant before heading into the mountains, station prices climb near tourist areas.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=ARHow far in advance should I book a campground around Haskell?
For Arkansas State Parks like Lake Catherine and DeGray Lake Resort, book through ArkansasStateParks.com as early as possible: peak summer weekends and October foliage weekends fill 3 to 6 months out. The state's reservation system opens bookings 13 months in advance, so serious planners snag the best lakefront RV sites the day they open. Mid-week stays and shoulder-season trips (April or late September) often have availability just a week or two ahead. For private parks like Cloud Nine RV Park in Hot Springs or I-30 Travel Park in Benton, two to four weeks ahead is usually enough. Pro tip: keep a backup campground in mind in case your first choice is full.
arkansasstateparks.com/What are driving conditions like around Haskell?
Driving an RV around Haskell is refreshingly relaxed compared to most metros. Interstate 30 runs right past town and is wide, well-maintained, and easy to navigate even for first-timers. US Highway 67 heading to Benton and Little Rock is similarly comfortable. The only real consideration is the Ouachita Mountains west toward Hot Springs and Mount Ida, where Highway 7 and Highway 270 include steep grades and winding curves; take it slow and use lower gears on descents. Summer thunderstorms can pop up fast between June and August, occasionally with high winds, so check radar before driving. Winters are mild, but ice is possible on a handful of January mornings, just delay your start.

Most private parks (I-30 Travel Park, Cloud Nine RV Park) have full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Dump stations are widely available; the Arkansas State Parks system maintains free or low-cost dumps at most parks, and Little Rock has several public dump stations along the Arkansas River. Potable water fills are easy to find at any state park entrance. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking water hose and a 50-to-30 amp adapter, you'll use both at least once.

Most rentals include air conditioning (essential for Arkansas summers), forced-air furnace, a TV with antenna or streaming setup, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Class A and Class C motorhomes typically have onboard generators for boondocking. Campervans (Class B) trade some space for better fuel economy and easier driving. Check the listing amenity list, RVezy hosts itemize exactly what is onboard.

RVezy hosts in Haskell often offer popular add-ons that make your trip simpler: linen and kitchen packages, camping chairs and outdoor mats, generators with extra fuel, bike racks, pre-filled propane tanks, and even fishing gear for Lake Catherine outings. Delivery and setup is the most-requested add-on, and many hosts offer free delivery within a short radius and a per-mile fee beyond that. Pickup is typically between 1 and 4 PM with a return by 11 AM. Mileage policies vary: many hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per day with a modest per-mile fee after that. Message hosts directly to negotiate longer trips or higher mileage caps.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Haskell%2C%20ArkansasHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment on RVezy is straightforward and fully online: you pay your rental total, taxes, and any add-ons through the platform when you book, with no cash exchanged at pickup. Most hosts in Haskell also require a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on RV class) that is held separately from the booking payment and released after your trip, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues, do a thorough walkaround at pickup, take photos of any existing dings, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the holding tanks before drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I beat the heat on a summer Haskell RV trip?
Summer in Haskell, AR brings real heat: July and August highs average around 92°F with a heat index that can climb past 100°F. The smart play is leaning into water and timing. Park under shade at Lake Catherine or DeGray Lake where you can swim from your campsite, run your RV roof AC on shore power (50 amp is ideal for dual ACs), and tackle longer drives early morning or after 6 PM when temps drop. Stock extra water and electrolytes. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season trip in May or late September instead, you will get 80°F days, cool nights, and the same beautiful Ouachita scenery for less money and less sweat.
