Campgrounds and RV parks near Cleveland, MS

Cleveland anchors a stretch of the Mississippi Blues Trail, and travelers can spend a day between the Grammy Museum Mississippi on the Delta State University campus, historic Dockery Farms, and downtown Cotton Row. Live music venues and Delta-style restaurants line the walkable core, and the university's cultural events add concerts and exhibitions during the school year. Outdoor activities cluster around water. Leroy Percy State Park offers fishing on 60-acre Alligator Lake for bass, catfish, and bluegill, plus an 18-hole disc golf course, nature trails, and two alligator observation towers. Lake Chicot draws anglers targeting bass, crappie, catfish, and bream, and levee roads along the Mississippi River provide long, quiet drives, birdwatching, and access points for boat launches.

The Delta has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers and mild, wet winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel, with daytime highs in the low 20s Celsius and lower humidity than midsummer. Spring is also among the wettest parts of the year, and severe thunderstorms and tornado watches are common from March through May, so campers should monitor NWS alerts and plan for muddy sites at rustic campgrounds. Summer brings persistent heat and humidity, with afternoon highs frequently above 32 Celsius and heat indices considerably higher. Shaded state park sites and full-hookup parks with reliable power for air conditioning are the practical choice during this period. Mosquitoes and other insects are heavy near lakes and bottomland hardwoods. Fall is generally the driest and most pleasant season. Leroy Percy offers seasonal hunting of deer with primitive weapons only, plus squirrel, duck, and dove, so RV travelers sharing the park with hunters should confirm dates and area access with the park office before arrival.

Sites near Cleveland are typically level and easy to access with larger rigs. Leroy Percy has 16 RV camping sites on concrete pads, each equipped with water, sewer, and electrical hookups, and a bathhouse with hot showers and laundry sits near the developed camping area. The park accommodates rigs up to 40 feet. Cell coverage is generally reliable in and around Cleveland but can drop along rural highways and behind the levee. Grocery, fuel, and RV supply runs are easiest in Cleveland itself or in Greenville to the west. Expect gravel or paved pads, fire rings, and picnic tables at most state park sites, and full hookups with limited shade at private parks along the highway corridors.
