Camping near Corinth, Mississippi
Corinth sits in the northeast corner of Mississippi, close to the Tennessee and Alabama state lines, and functions as a practical base for RV trips that combine Civil War history with lake and river recreation. Shiloh National Military Park preserves the battlefield just north of the state line, and the Corinth Battlefield Unit of the park sits within the city itself, marking the important rail junction that both armies fought to control.
For RV travelers, the closest options are in town or a short drive north across the state line to Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee River. Corinth RV Park offers hookup sites near town, while Battlefield Campground sits close to the Shiloh unit off Highway 22. North of the state line, Botel Campground, Pickwick Dam Campground, and Pickwick Landing State Park cluster around the Tennessee River between Savannah and Counce, Tennessee.
The area is rolling and wooded, with hardwood forests, tributary creeks, and Tennessee River shoreline. Summers are hot and humid; winters are mild by regional standards, with hard freezes uncommon and snow rare.
Things to do around Corinth
History anchors most trips here. The Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center in town and Shiloh National Military Park to the north are the main draws, and Shiloh preserves a large battlefield with driving tour stops, monuments, and a national cemetery. Downtown Corinth adds walkable shops, restaurants, and the local slugburger tradition.
Water recreation centers on Pickwick Lake and the Tennessee River, about a half-hour drive north. Pickwick Landing State Park offers a swim beach, marina, boat ramps, and an 18-hole golf course, and Pickwick Lake is a well-known bass and catfish fishery. TVA day-use areas below Pickwick Dam add picnic spots and shoreline access.
For hikers, Big Hill Pond and Tishomingo state parks sit within about an hour of Corinth and offer forest trails suitable for a day trip from an RV base.

Spring and fall are the sweet spots for RV travel around Corinth. Days are warm, humidity is lower than midsummer, and battlefield walking is comfortable. Spring brings the heaviest rainfall of the year and occasional severe thunderstorms, so travelers should watch the forecast through the March to May window.
Summer is hot and humid. July averages a high near 90°F and a low near 70°F, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Lake campgrounds fill quickly on weekends and around the July 4 holiday, so booking well ahead is wise. Winters are mild but wet. Temperatures rarely drop below freezing for extended periods, and measurable snow is unusual, though a rain and sleet mix can occur.
Some campgrounds run year-round, while others reduce services or close in winter. Pickwick Dam Campground operates seasonally from mid-March to mid-November. The Main Campground at Pickwick Landing State Park is currently closed for weather damage repairs and renovations, while the Bruton Branch Campground remains open, so check park status before booking.
How to book campgrounds near Corinth
Reservation systems vary by operator. Private parks such as Corinth RV Park and Botel Campground take direct online or phone bookings through their own websites. Botel Campground has a 1:00 PM check-in, requires payment at the time of booking, and limits units to 2010 or newer models.
Pickwick Dam Campground is a TVA campground managed by Vista Recreation, booked through the operator's site, and runs a seasonal schedule from mid-March through mid-November. Pickwick Landing State Park sites are reserved through the Tennessee State Parks reservation system up to one year in advance.
For spring and fall weekends, and any summer holiday, book waterfront sites two to three months out. Weeknight and shoulder-season availability is usually easier to find.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Corinth is rolling and wooded, and several campgrounds have older loops built before large RVs became common. At Pickwick Landing State Park, reviewers consistently note that sites slope and can be difficult to level, though bathhouses are clean and shade is plentiful. Bringing leveling blocks and long hookup hoses is a good idea.
Hookup levels vary. Botel Campground offers concrete pads with 50/30/20 amp electric, city water, and sewer at all sites, plus a picnic table, charcoal grill, and firepit at each site. Pickwick Dam Campground provides electric and water at all sites with a central dump station, and the state park's Bruton Branch area is primitive with untreated well water at the bathhouse.
Cell service can be spotty in the wooded river bottoms. Download maps and confirmation details before arrival.

nps.gov/natr/planyourvisit/driving-the-parkway.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Corinth RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier line items to plan for in Mississippi. Gas prices in Corinth tend to run below the national average, typically among the lowest in the country. Travel trailers towed by a pickup average 10 to 14 MPG, Class C motorhomes get around 8 to 12 MPG, and Class B campervans often hit 18 to 20 MPG. For a weekend loop from Corinth to Pickwick Lake and Shiloh (about 100 total miles), you're looking at roughly $30 to $50 in fuel for most rigs. Pro tip: fill up in Corinth or Iuka before heading into Tennessee, where prices typically tick up a bit.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Corinth?
For the best sites, plan ahead, especially in peak season. J.P. Coleman State Park and Pickwick Landing State Park sites fill up 3 to 6 months in advance for summer weekends and holidays, while US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Piney Grove on Bay Springs Lake open reservations on Recreation.gov six months out. For shoulder-season trips (April or October), 2 to 4 weeks ahead is usually plenty. Mississippi State Parks use Reserve America for bookings. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, search Recreation.gov for cancellations 48 to 72 hours before arrival, that's when last-minute lakefront gems often open up at Corps campgrounds around Corinth.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Corinth?
Driving an RV around Corinth is refreshingly stress-free. Roads are flat to gently rolling, traffic is light outside of the brief downtown rush, and US-72 and US-45 are wide, well-maintained corridors perfect for larger rigs. Watch for occasional spring thunderstorms (March through May) and the rare ice event in January, when it's smart to delay travel a day. Deer are active at dawn and dusk on rural roads, so plan daylight driving when possible. Avoid the narrow historic streets of downtown Corinth with big Class A rigs; instead, park at the Crossroads Museum lot. Pro tip: the Natchez Trace Parkway has a 50 MPH speed limit and no trucks, making it the most relaxing drive in the region.

You'll be well taken care of. Most campgrounds near Corinth, MS offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), with J.P. Coleman State Park, Pickwick Landing State Park, and Crossroads RV Park all providing pull-through and back-in sites with these amenities. US Army Corps of Engineers sites at Piney Grove typically have water and electric, with dump stations on-site. You'll also find hot showers, laundry, and boat ramps at the lake parks. Need to dump tanks or refill water mid-trip? The Love's Travel Stop on US-72 in Corinth has an RV dump station. Pro tip: pack a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 90-degree elbow connector for tight hookup pedestals at older Corps sites.
mdwfp.ms.gov/parks-destinations/state-parks/What's included inside a typical Corinth RV rental?
You'll be amazed how well-equipped these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental Corinth listing includes real beds (queens are common, plus convertible dinettes and bunks), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with AC and furnace, and usually a TV with DVD or streaming setup. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add a generator for off-grid power, outdoor speakers, and awnings with LED lighting. Campervan rental Corinth options (Class B) are more compact but cleverly designed with everything you need. Seatbelted travel seats vary by rig, so confirm the sleeps and seatbelt count on the listing. Pro tip: many hosts include starter kits with linens, cookware, and even camp chairs.
nhtsa.gov/equipment/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in Corinth make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include generators (often $20 to $40 per day), bike racks, kayaks, outdoor grills, linens and kitchen kits, and pet packages, all visible on the listing page. Mileage policies vary, with daily allowances typically between 100 and 150 miles and overage fees clearly posted; some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages for longer routes like the Natchez Trace. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Corinth or nearby Alcorn County, with delivery available from many hosts for an additional fee based on distance. Pro tip: bundling delivery with a generator add-on is the sweet spot for lakeside camping at Pickwick where shore power isn't guaranteed.
fmcsa.dot.gov/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure, handled entirely through RVezy. You pay online with a credit or debit card at booking, with no cash exchanged with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) and released after a successful return. The deposit covers minor incidentals not included in the protection plan. To avoid any issues, do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup and dropoff and take date-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, and odometer. Pro tip: keep your fuel and propane receipts from your Corinth trip so you can show the rig was returned at the same levels.
