Campgrounds and RV parks near Crenshaw, MS

Sardis Lake is the region's outdoor anchor. The reservoir is a nationally recognized crappie fishery and also produces largemouth bass and catfish, and a Mississippi fishing license is required. John W Kyle State Park has a boat ramp, swimming pool, playground, and the 18-hole Mallard Pointe Golf Course along the shoreline. West of Crenshaw, the Tunica casino corridor offers gaming, buffets, and live entertainment within a 30 to 45 minute drive. Memphis and Graceland are reachable in about an hour, and the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford is roughly 25 miles from the state park, useful for football weekends. Bird-watching is productive along the lake shore, and Holly Springs National Forest sits just east of the lake for additional wildlife viewing and hiking.

The Crenshaw area has a humid subtropical climate: hot, humid summers, mild winters, and rainfall spread through the year. Spring runs cool to warm and can bring severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, particularly in March and April. It is also one of the wettest windows of the year. Summer is peak camping season at Sardis Lake. Highs sit in the upper 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit with high humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. State park sites and lakefront Corps campgrounds fill quickly on holiday weekends, and the John W Kyle State Park campground is busiest during Ole Miss football weekends and summer holidays. Fall brings the most pleasant conditions of the year, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and drier weather from September into November. Winter is mild but variable: freezing nights occur, brief cold snaps happen, and light snow or sleet is possible from December through February. The John W Kyle campground stays open year-round, and Sardis Lake levels are drawn down each winter by the Corps of Engineers for flood control.

Casino RV parks in the Tunica corridor are essentially paved lots with full hookups, 50-amp service, laundry, and showers. Sites are level and shaded parking is limited. Amenities such as pools, gyms, and restaurants are shared with the adjacent casino hotels. Note that Sams Town Gambling Hall RV Park is tied to the Sam's Town casino, which permanently closed on November 9, 2025, so travelers should confirm current status directly before planning a stop. John W Kyle State Park delivers a more traditional campground feel, with wooded sites, electric and water hookups, a central bathhouse, laundry, and direct lake access on the lower lake. Pets must be leashed and are not allowed in cabins, villas, or motel areas. Cell coverage is generally reliable near the lake, and the nearest full-service groceries are in Sardis and Batesville.
