Campgrounds and RV parks near Crowder, MS

Fishing drives most trips to this corner of Mississippi. Sardis, Enid, and Grenada lakes are all Corps of Engineers reservoirs known for crappie, with bass, bream, and catfish also common. Boat ramps at John W Kyle State Park and Hugh White State Park - Outlet Channel put anglers on the water quickly, and shoreline fishing is possible from most campground loops. Beyond fishing, families can use the parks as bases for swimming, waterskiing, and paddling. Amenities at John W Kyle include a swimming pool, playground, volleyball court, and an 18-hole disc golf course. Hugh White offers boating, fishing, hiking, an 18-hole Dogwoods Golf Course, and disc golf. Day trips run to Clarksdale for Delta blues history and to Oxford, roughly a half-hour east, for the University of Mississippi campus.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in the Mississippi Delta. March through May brings mild temperatures and active crappie fishing on the reservoirs, which is the region's signature season. Bookings at John W Kyle and Hugh White tighten quickly on spring weekends when tournaments and family groups fill waterfront loops. Summer runs hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through August. Lake levels are typically drawn down after spring flood control, exposing wide beaches for swimming and boating. Biting insects are active near shorelines and lowland sites, so screens and repellent matter. Fall cools off gradually. September and October bring football-weekend traffic to Kyle because of its proximity to Ole Miss. The Kyle campground operates year-round on paved sites that accommodate big rigs, though winter campers should expect reduced services. The Outlet Channel sits below the Grenada Lake dam, so verify site status with the park before booking during high-water periods in late winter and early spring.

Expect flat to gently rolling terrain, tall hardwoods, and long views over open reservoirs. Kyle provides over 200 developed campsites with full hookups including water, electric service (15, 20, 30, and 50 amp), and sewer connections, pull-through sites for larger rigs, picnic tables and grills at each site, and a centrally located bathhouse with flush toilets, hot showers, and laundry facilities. At Outlet Channel, 173 RV camp sites sit below the Grenada Lake Dam, each with water and electrical hook-ups, picnic tables, and grills, with hot showers in four bathhouses and a central sewage dumping station. Cell service is generally usable but can drop in bottomland areas. Site numbers are poorly marked at Kyle, making arrival during daylight hours advisable. Pack for humidity, sun exposure on open shorelines, and thunderstorm potential in warmer months.
