Campgrounds near Isola, Mississippi
Isola sits in Humphreys County in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, a flat farming region laced with bayous, oxbow lakes, and cypress sloughs. RV travelers use the town as a base for Delta blues stops, waterfowl areas, and lake fishing. Camping options are limited within the town itself, so most travelers stage at state parks and private RV parks within about an hour's drive.
The closest full-service public campground is Leroy Percy State Park near Hollandale, which has 16 RV sites with water, sewer, and electrical hookups plus a bathhouse with hot showers and laundry. Delta Mobile Home and RV Park and Pecan Grove RV Park handle longer stays and travelers who prefer a private-park setup.
For a longer drive, Holmes County State Park near Durant offers 28 RV sites with water and electrical hookups, a central dump station, and a bathhouse with hot showers, and Lake Chicot State Park across the river in Arkansas rounds out the regional options.
Things to do near Isola
Fishing drives most trips. Leroy Percy State Park sits on 60-acre Alligator Lake, which holds largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and redear sunfish, and the Delta's oxbow lakes hold similar species. The park also has an 18-hole disc golf course and observation towers for viewing resident alligators.
Delta culture is the other draw. The Highway 61 blues corridor, the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, and Mississippi Blues Trail markers are all within short driving range. Belzoni, the self-styled Catfish Capital, hosts the World Catfish Festival each April. Waterfowl hunters and birders use the surrounding wildlife management areas in fall and winter.
Holmes County State Park adds nature trails, a skating rink, and a boat launch on English Lake for park guests.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in the Delta. March through May brings warming temperatures, greening farmland, and songbird migration, though thunderstorms and occasional tornado risk are part of the picture. October and November bring drier air, cooler nights, and fall color in the hardwoods around Holmes County State Park.
Summer is hot and humid, with heat index values often well above the actual air temperature. Sites with shade fill first, and mosquitoes are active. Screened awnings and repellent are worth packing for warm-weather trips.
Winter is mild by national standards but wet. Freezing nights occur but rarely last more than a day or two. Waterfowl season pulls hunters into the surrounding wildlife management areas, and Leroy Percy State Park remains open year-round with reduced occupancy. Lake levels and river stages can affect access to some boat ramps after heavy Delta rains.
How to book a campsite near Isola
Mississippi state parks, including Leroy Percy State Park and Holmes County State Park, take reservations through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks reservation system online or by phone to the park office. Some sites are held for first-come, first-served arrivals, and monthly camping may be available, so call the park office to confirm.
Lake Chicot State Park is operated by Arkansas State Parks and uses a separate reservation system, so travelers crossing the river should book that stay independently. Private options such as Delta Mobile Home and RV Park and Pecan Grove RV Park are typically booked by phone directly with the operator.
For spring and fall weekends, book several weeks ahead. Weekday arrivals in the shoulder seasons are usually easier to secure on short notice.
What to expect on the ground
Delta campgrounds are flat and easy to navigate. At Leroy Percy State Park, the 16 RV sites have concrete pads with electric, water, and sewer connections, and the park accepts rigs up to 40 feet. A bathhouse with hot showers and laundry, a boat launch, and a dump station round out the facilities.
Holmes County State Park has 28 RV sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups and a central sewage dump station, with a 40-foot RV length limit. Cell coverage in the rural Delta can be spotty, and grocery runs mean a drive to Belzoni, Indianola, or Greenville.
Expect quiet, low-traffic campgrounds outside of holiday weekends and hunting-season peaks. Alligators are present in some Delta waters, so keep pets leashed near shorelines.
