Campgrounds and RV parks near Leakesville, MS

Leakesville sits in Greene County in southeast Mississippi, roughly an hour inland from the Gulf Coast and close to the Alabama state line. The town is small and rural, and most RV travelers use it as a base for water-based recreation on the Pascagoula River system and forest recreation in the surrounding pine country. Camping options within an easy drive include private RV parks such as Yall Come Back RV Park, Lake Early RV Park, and Autumn Lake RV Park, plus the tent-and-glamping property Elevate Red Creek. Farther out toward Waynesboro, Maynor Creek Water Park offers a full-service public campground on a reservoir. The De Soto National Forest, at just over 518,000 acres of pine forests and wetlands, lies to the west and adds primitive and developed federal sites to the mix. Road access is straightforward via US-98 and MS-57, and larger supply stops sit in Lucedale, Waynesboro, and Hattiesburg. RV renters should expect two-lane rural driving, long stretches between fuel stops, and forest roads that narrow quickly off the main highways.

Private parks in the area, including Yall Come Back RV Park, Lake Early RV Park, Autumn Lake RV Park, and Elevate Red Creek, typically take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Call ahead to confirm rig-length limits, pull-through availability, and whether 50-amp service is offered. Maynor Creek Water Park is operated by the Pat Harrison Waterway District, a Mississippi state agency that manages camping and recreation across the Pascagoula River Basin. All sites must be reserved in advance; PHWD generally allows 2 to 4 night stays to be booked up to three months out and longer stays up to a year out. Call the park directly for campsite reservations and the district office for cabins. For De Soto National Forest sites, developed campgrounds accept reservations through Recreation.gov, while many primitive sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Book holiday weekends and fall color periods several weeks out.
