Campgrounds and RV parks near Vicksburg, MS

Vicksburg National Military Park covers roughly 1,800 acres with more than 1,400 monuments, tablets and markers honoring soldiers who served on both sides of the Civil War, plus 20 miles of reconstructed trenches and earthworks. A self-guided drive along the park's 16-mile tour road is a common starting point, and the USS Cairo Gunboat and Museum are located within the park, where visitors can view the restored Union ironclad along with Civil War-era artifacts. Visitors can also hire a Licensed Battlefield Guide credentialed by the National Park Service for a range of tour formats. Beyond the battlefield, downtown Vicksburg holds the Old Court House Museum, the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum where Coca-Cola was first bottled, and the Vicksburg Riverfront Murals along the levee. Riverboat sightseeing, casino entertainment, and Southern restaurants round out an evening after touring. Day trips reach the Natchez Trace Parkway, the Big Black River, and Grand Gulf Military Park south of the city.
