Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in the Fenton area. Demand runs highest June through August when school is out, while the shoulder months of April, May, September, and October usually have better availability and more moderate rates. Spring brings the region's heaviest rainfall and severe-weather risk, so RV renters should watch forecasts for thunderstorms and the occasional tornado warning.
Summer is hot and humid, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms and the strongest booking pressure at family parks tied to Six Flags. Fall cools off quickly and tends to be drier, making September and October good windows for state-park campgrounds along the Meramec.
Winter is cold but manageable in the metro. Covered Bridge RV Park keeps its accommodations available year round with quick access to major highways, which makes Fenton one of the few metro-area bases that stays open through the off-season. Some seasonal amenities at other parks close between late fall and early spring, so confirm before booking.

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. Unplug, enjoy the time together, and make some memories. You won’t regret it!

How to book
Private RV parks in and around Fenton typically take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage in Fenton takes reservations by phone at the office number listed on its site. KOA and Jellystone properties use their national booking platforms, and popular family weekends near Six Flags fill up months in advance.
For public land, Missouri State Parks accept reservations up to 12 months in advance, either online through the state parks reservation site or by phone. Advance booking is recommended for weekends, holidays, and other peak travel times, and walk-up registration is allowed on non-reserved sites. Book early for holiday weekends and any dates that overlap with Six Flags peak season or Cardinals home stands in St. Louis.
What to expect on the ground
Fenton-area RV parks are mostly developed suburban facilities rather than wilderness sites. Expect paved or concrete pads, full hookups at the private parks, and quick access to grocery stores, restaurants, and fuel. Some parks in the area primarily serve long-term residents; at Covered Bridge RV Park, for example, the mix leans toward full-time and seasonal campers, with fewer resort-style amenities than a typical destination RV park.
Families looking for pools, playgrounds, and organized activities will be better served by the Jellystone properties or the KOA near Six Flags. Missouri State Parks generally offer basic and electric sites, with sewer/electric/water sometimes available, so check individual park details before booking.
Cell service is strong across the metro, but low-lying sites along the Meramec and adjacent creeks have flooded during heavy spring rains, so renters should confirm site conditions before arrival in wet years.
