Camping near Hollister, Missouri
Hollister sits on the south bank of Lake Taneycomo directly across from Branson, placing RV travelers within a few minutes of both the Branson entertainment strip and the shorelines of Lake Taneycomo and Table Rock Lake. The area is part of the Ozark Mountains region of southwest Missouri, and Table Rock Lake covers roughly 43,100 acres, formed by Table Rock Dam on the White River.
Lodging around Hollister is a mix of private RV resorts and public campgrounds. Private options close to town include Cooper Creek Resort and RV on Lake Taneycomo, Hidden Valley RV Park, Turkey Creek RV Village, Landing View Campground, and Hide-A-Way Campground. Public options nearby include Table Rock State Park, just west of Hollister on Highway 165, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds spread around Table Rock Lake.
The combination of lake access, trout fishing on Taneycomo, and Branson attractions makes the area a year-round destination, with families forming the bulk of visitors during summer and fall.
Things to do around Hollister
Water recreation drives most trips. Lake Taneycomo is a tailwater fishery stocked with rainbow and brown trout and is fishable year round, while Table Rock Lake is known for bass, crappie, catfish, and other warm-water species. State Park Marina at Table Rock State Park rents ski boats, pontoons, and paddleboards, and several private resorts along Taneycomo offer boat and slip rentals.
On land, Table Rock State Park has paved bike paths and mountain biking trails through oak-hickory forest, and the Dewey Short Visitor Center near the dam is a common stop for families. Branson itself sits minutes away and adds theme parks, live music theaters, mini golf, and the Branson Landing boardwalk on Lake Taneycomo. Hollister-based campgrounds such as Cooper Creek Resort and RV and Hidden Valley RV Park put anglers close to trout water.

The Branson-Hollister area has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Peak camping demand runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when summer highs reach the upper 80s and low 90s Fahrenheit and humidity is high. July and August weekends at Table Rock State Park and Corps of Engineers campgrounds fill quickly, and advance booking is essential.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable times for RV travel. April and May bring wildflowers and the wettest weather of the year, with May averaging the highest monthly rainfall at roughly 4.5 inches. September and October pair mild days with fall color across the Ozark hills and are heavily booked around holiday weekends and Branson's fall entertainment season.
Winter is the quiet season. Freezing nights are common from November through March, snowfall is light and averages only around 7 inches a year, and many private campgrounds reduce services or close sections. At Table Rock State Park, individual campsite water spigots are shut off from December through February, though one shower house in Campground 1 remains open.

How to book campgrounds near Hollister
Public and private sites use different reservation systems. Table Rock State Park bookings go through Missouri State Parks at icampmo1.usedirect.com or by phone at 877-422-6766, with a 12-month rolling reservation window that recently expanded from the previous six-month window. Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Table Rock Lake are booked through Recreation.gov, which typically releases sites on a rolling 6-month window at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time.
Private parks including Cooper Creek Resort and RV, Hidden Valley RV Park, Turkey Creek RV Village, Landing View Campground, and Hide-A-Way Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Private parks often accept bookings farther out than the public systems, which helps when planning summer holidays or fall theater weekends in Branson.
What to expect on-site
Most private RV parks around Hollister offer full hookups with water, sewer, and 30- or 50-amp electric, along with laundry, showers, Wi-Fi, and dump stations. Sites tend to be gravel and can be uneven, so leveling blocks are useful. Terrain is hilly and wooded, and some tighter parks are best suited to rigs under 40 feet.
Table Rock State Park has basic, electric, and sewer/electric/water sites spread across two campgrounds, with modern restrooms, showers, and a dump station in each campground where potable water is available year round. Corps of Engineers sites tend to be electric-only with modern restrooms and shared water spigots.
Cell coverage is generally reliable near Hollister and Branson, though wooded shoreline sites can be spotty. Deer and other wildlife are common in campgrounds along the creeks and lakeshore.

On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches run $250 to $400 nightly. Prices climb during peak Branson tourism months (May through October) and dip in late winter. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book to lock in the best rates fast, since Table Rock Lake weekends sell out quickly.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollister,%20MissouriWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Hollister, MO?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Hollister. There is no special RV endorsement or commercial driver's license (CDL) required for any of the motorhomes or travel trailers on RVezy, even the big Class A coaches you'll see rolling through the Ozarks. Approved renters are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens right through the RVezy platform during booking, so there's no paperwork hassle. Visiting from abroad for a Branson getaway? Bring your valid home-country license (an International Driving Permit is recommended if your license is not in English). Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the process is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my Hollister RV rental?
Every RV rental in Hollister booked through RVezy includes a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 65 toward Branson with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV and provides meaningful financial protection if something unexpected happens on the road. During checkout, you choose between different coverage tiers, so you pick the level that matches your comfort, not the host. Whether you're parking at a Table Rock Lake campground or driving the curvy Ozark backroads, you're covered. Pro tip: the higher-tier plans lower your deductible significantly, which is worth it for first-time renters.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Hollister trip plans change?
Booking your Hollister RV trip is low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and there's a full money-back grace period right after you book. Plans can shift, especially with Ozarks weather or last-minute Branson show changes, and the RVezy policy considers timing before your trip start date. Since the same policy applies platform-wide, you don't have to compare fine print between listings. If a host has to cancel, RVezy refunds guests or provides travel credits. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Table Rock Lake rigs, knowing you have that grace period to lock in plans before the cancellation window tightens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on my Hollister RV trip?
Absolutely, and Hollister is one of the most dog-friendly corners of the Ozarks. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Hollister, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them instantly. Once you've got your rig, your pup will love Table Rock State Park's leashed trails, the dog-friendly areas around Moonshine Beach, and the pet-welcoming patios along Branson Landing just a few minutes north. Many campgrounds in the area, including Branson KOA and Table Rock State Park Campground, welcome leashed pets. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and ask about nearby trails, locals know the best off-the-beaten-path spots.
mostateparks.com/park/table-rock-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Hollister?
Yes, RV delivery in Hollister is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time. Many RVezy hosts will drive the RV to your campsite at Table Rock State Park, Branson KOA, or even a private cabin rental in Hollister, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. This is perfect for travelers flying into Branson Airport (BKG) or Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) who don't want to tow anything. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see hosts who offer it. Pro tip: ask about delivery to Table Rock Dam Site Campground, it's a stunning Corps of Engineers spot right on the water.
swl.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Lakes/Table-Rock-Lake/How far can I drive from Hollister on an RV trip?
From Hollister, you're sitting in a sweet spot for a Midwest RV road trip. Popular destinations include Eureka Springs, Arkansas (about 50 miles south, an hour drive), Buffalo National River (110 miles, around 2 hours), Bull Shoals Lake (about 50 miles, just over an hour), Lake of the Ozarks (about 130 miles, 2.5 hours), and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways near Eminence (about 170 miles, 3 hours). Some Hollister hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, while others include a generous daily allowance. Check the mileage policy on each listing and message the host if you have a longer route in mind. Pro tip: the drive south on Highway 65 into Arkansas is gorgeous in October.
nps.gov/buff/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Hollister, MO?
You've got some of the best campgrounds near Hollister right in your backyard. Table Rock State Park Campground sits on the lake just minutes from town with full hookups and a swim beach. Branson KOA Holiday on Highway 165 is family-favorite with a pool and shuttle to shows. Cricket Creek Campground (Corps of Engineers, about 30 minutes south on Bull Shoals Lake) is quiet and scenic. Indian Point Campground, another Corps site on Table Rock, offers stunning waterfront sites. For something closer to nightlife, try America's Best Campground in Branson. Pro tip: Corps of Engineers sites book up six months ahead on Recreation.gov, so reserve early for summer weekends.
recreation.gov/When is the best time for an RV trip in Hollister?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Hollister is mid-April through early June and then September through early November. Spring delivers dogwood blooms, mild 60-75°F days, and fewer crowds before Branson's summer rush. Fall is arguably the best season, with vibrant Ozark foliage peaking mid-to-late October and crisp 50-70°F weather perfect for campfires. Summer (June to August) is hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, but Table Rock Lake swimming makes it worth it. Winter is mild (30s-50s) and Branson's November-December Christmas lights season is magical from a heated RV. Pro tip: visit during Silver Dollar City's Pumpkin Festival in October for the best combo of weather, foliage, and fun.
weather.gov/sgf/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in the Ozarks?
You've got this, and you're not alone. First time renting an RV in Hollister is easier than most people expect because every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, hookups, slide-outs, and tank dumping. The roads around Hollister are RV-friendly: Highway 65 is a wide four-lane corridor, and Highway 165 around Table Rock Lake is scenic but manageable. Avoid narrow backroads near Branson West if you're in a big Class A. Pro tip: if you're nervous, choose a Class C motorhome (drives like a big van) or book a host who offers delivery so your first miles aren't behind the wheel of a 30-footer.
modot.org/What happens if I break down during my Hollister RV trip?
Breathe easy: 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so if you have a flat near Table Rock Dam or your battery dies at a Bull Shoals overlook, help is one phone call away. You'll also have your host's direct number for RV-specific questions, and RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Cell coverage is generally solid around Hollister, Branson, and Highway 65, though it can get spotty in deeper Mark Twain National Forest areas. Pro tip: download offline Google Maps for the Ozarks before you leave, it's a lifesaver in the hollows where signal drops.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Hollister RV rental across state lines?
Yes, crossing into neighboring states is generally fine for most Hollister rentals, and it's a big reason people love an RV road trip from Hollister. Arkansas is just 30 miles south (hello, Eureka Springs and Buffalo River), Oklahoma is about 90 miles west, and Kansas and Illinois are within a day's drive. Cross-border travel to Mexico isn't allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance won't cover it. If you're planning a route into Canada, message the host first since policies vary by listing. Pro tip: a loop through northern Arkansas and back via Mountain View's folk music scene is a classic 4-day Ozark itinerary.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Hollister RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but it's easy to plan for. Expect roughly 8-10 MPG for a Class A motorhome, 10-14 MPG for a Class C, 18-22 MPG for a campervan rental in Hollister, and 12-16 MPG for a truck towing a travel trailer. Missouri gas prices typically run below the national average, and there are plenty of large RV-friendly stations along Highway 65 and at the Casey's and Love's in nearby Branson West. For a 3-night trip staying within 100 miles of Hollister, budget roughly $100-$200 in fuel depending on rig size. Pro tip: GasBuddy consistently shows the cheapest diesel at the Branson Pilot for big rigs.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Hollister?
For a stress-free motorhome rental in Hollister experience, book your campground as soon as you book your RV, ideally 4-6 months ahead for summer and fall weekends. Table Rock State Park and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites (Indian Point, Old Highway 86, Cricket Creek) open reservations up to six months in advance on Recreation.gov and sell out fast for holidays. Private parks like Branson KOA and America's Best Campground are bookable directly and have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have openings, even in peak season, and the campground feels twice as peaceful.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Hollister?
Driving around Hollister is mostly easy and genuinely scenic. Highway 65, the main artery into Branson and down to Arkansas, is a four-lane divided highway that handles big RVs without issue. Highway 76 (the famous Branson 'Strip') gets congested during show times (4-8 PM), so route around it on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. The hilly terrain means steep grades on some backroads, use lower gears on descents like the one off Highway 165 toward the dam. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk year-round. Pro tip: skip Highway 76 entirely in the evenings, use Gretna Road or Roark Valley Road to bypass Branson's traffic and shave 20 minutes off your trip.
modot.org/traveler-informationWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Hollister?
Campgrounds near Hollister are well-equipped for a comfortable RV camping experience. Full-service parks like Branson KOA, America's Best Campground, and Table Rock State Park offer 30/50 amp electric, water, and often sewer hookups at the site, plus shared dump stations, potable water fill, laundry, Wi-Fi, and pools at many private parks. Corps of Engineers sites typically have electric and water and use a central dump station. Bathhouses are clean and modern at the state park. Pro tip: fill your fresh water tank before leaving the campground because some scenic overlooks and boondocking spots in Mark Twain National Forest have no services.
swl.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Lakes/Table-Rock-Lake/What's inside a typical Hollister RV rental?
Hollister RV rentals come surprisingly well-equipped, basically a cabin on wheels. Expect a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa beds (sleeping 4-8 total depending on the rig), a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, stovetop, microwave, and often an oven, plus a bathroom with shower and toilet. Most rigs include air conditioning (a must for Ozark summers), furnace, TV, and many have built-in generators, outdoor speakers, and awnings perfect for Table Rock Lake sunsets. Seatbelts are provided for travel passengers (check the listing for the exact count). Pro tip: filter by 'Sleeps 6+' if you're bringing the family, and message the host to confirm whether linens, cookware, and outdoor chairs are included or available as add-ons.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollister,%20MissouriWhat add-ons and pickup options do Hollister hosts offer?
Hollister hosts make your trip easy with helpful add-ons like camp chairs, outdoor grills, generators, bike racks, kayaks (huge bonus for Table Rock Lake), linens and towel packages, and even fully stocked kitchen kits. Common fees include a generator hour rate (often $2-4/hr beyond included hours), pet fees (often $25-75/trip), and cleaning (often $75-150). Pickup is typically at the host's location in Hollister, Branson, Forsyth, or Kimberling City, and many hosts offer delivery to local campgrounds for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary, some include a daily allowance and others offer unlimited. Pro tip: bundling delivery, setup, and a kayak add-on often costs less than renting kayaks separately at Table Rock Marina.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollister,%20MissouriHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A security deposit is placed as a hold on your card (not charged unless there's an issue) and is released after your trip if the RV comes back in good shape with no damage, smoking, or missed cleaning rules. Deposit amounts vary by rig but typically range from $500 to $1,500 for Hollister rentals. To avoid any deposit drama, do a quick walk-through video at pickup and dropoff with your host. Pro tip: keep fuel receipts and dump-station photos, they make resolving any post-trip questions a five-minute conversation.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great first-time itinerary for an RV trip from Hollister?
Here's a perfect 4-day RV road trip from Hollister that locals love: Day 1, pick up your rig and settle into Table Rock State Park Campground, swim at Moonshine Beach, and grab dinner on Branson Landing. Day 2, drive about 50 miles south to Eureka Springs, AR for the Victorian downtown and Thorncrown Chapel. Day 3, head to Buffalo National River near Ponca for an easy float trip (rentals on-site). Day 4, return via Bull Shoals Lake for one last swim before drop-off. Total drive: about 250 miles, easy mileage for most Hollister listings. Pro tip: time your return for a Silver Dollar City evening, your RV makes the parking situation effortless compared to a hotel stay.
