Campgrounds and RV parks near Maryland Heights, MO

Maryland Heights itself is home to Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park, Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, and Aquaport, giving families waterfront trails, big-name concerts, and a summer water park within a short drive of any RV site. Downtown St. Louis adds the Gateway Arch, the free St. Louis Zoo, the Saint Louis Science Center, and the City Museum. Outdoor plans pair well with the Katy Trail State Park, which runs adjacent to Sundermeier RV Park in St. Charles and offers hundreds of miles of rail-trail for hiking and biking. Babler State Park adds miles of trail through hardwood forest, along with hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding routes and a Civilian Conservation Corps interpretive center.

Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel around Maryland Heights. As spring temperatures warm in May, the trees fill with leaves and the fields fill with wildflowers, while September and October deliver cooler nights, lower humidity, and reliable trail conditions. Weekends and holidays fill early at both private parks and Babler State Park, so booking several weeks ahead is wise during these peaks. Summer is the busiest tourist season, thanks to Six Flags, the amphitheatre concert calendar, and family attractions downtown. Through summer, expect temperatures to peak in the high 80s or 90s through July and August, with afternoon thunderstorms common. Sites with 50-amp service and full hookups are worth targeting for air conditioning loads. Winter is the quietest season. The campground is open all year at Babler with reservations available, but the restrooms and shower house are available April 1 through October 31, and during the off-season of November through March, potable water is available at a single frost-free spigot. Commercial RV parks in the area typically remain open with full utilities.

Private parks in the Maryland Heights and St. Charles area lean toward paved or concrete pads, full hookups with 30 and 50-amp service, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Sundermeier RV Park sits adjacent to the Katy Trail and offers level sites with an on-site store. Sites tend to sit close together, and highway or rail noise is possible at properties near interstates and river bridges. Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park offers basic, electric, and sewer/electric/water campsites under a hardwood canopy, and sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 20 and 52 feet. Park gates close at 9 p.m. during the on-season and 6 p.m. during the off-season, so late arrivals should plan accordingly. Firewood advisories apply, so check current rules before carrying wood into the park.
