Babler State Park, about 30 minutes from the St. Louis metro area, has 75 single-family campsites with a mix of basic sites and 30-amp and 50-amp electric hookups. Things to do near Twin Oaks
Six Flags St. Louis is the marquee family draw. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Six Flags sits about 20 miles west of St. Louis, roughly half a mile from Six Flags near I-44 Exit 261, which makes it easy to build a multi-day theme-park trip around the campground.
Babler State Park covers 2,441 acres with opportunities for hiking, picnicking, bicycling, horseback riding, and camping, and 13 miles of trails run through its old-growth forest. Interpretive exhibits and a visitor center round out rainy-day options.
Beyond the campgrounds, day trips reach the Gateway Arch, the Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park, Meramec Caverns near Stanton, and float or paddle stretches on the Meramec River. Rockwoods Reservation and the Katy Trail add more hiking and cycling within easy driving distance.

The camping season in the St. Louis area runs strongly from April through October. Peak seasons for Missouri camping include late spring, early summer, and early fall. As spring temperatures warm, the trees fill with leaves and wildflowers appear in the fields. Through summer, daytime highs peak in the high 80s or 90s in July and August. As temperatures cool in the fall, the forest turns color. Campgrounds are generally emptier in winter, when occasional snow, ice, and freezing temperatures make camping less comfortable.
Spring is the wettest stretch and can be stormy. The St. Louis metro area sits east of the heart of Tornado Alley and is one of the metropolitan areas most affected by severe weather, with tornadoes most likely in spring and sometimes in autumn. RV travelers should monitor NOAA alerts and know their campground's storm-shelter locations.
Off-season stays are possible but stripped down. At Babler State Park the restrooms and shower house are available April 1 through October 31, and during the off-season of November through March potable water is available at a single frost-free spigot. Private resorts around Eureka often close or curtail amenities in winter as well.

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. Unplug, enjoy the time together, and make some memories. You won’t regret it!
