Valley Park sits in west St. Louis County along the Meramec River, roughly twenty miles from downtown St. Louis and minutes from Six Flags St. Louis in nearby Eureka. The location gives RV travelers quick access to Interstate 44, Route 66 landmarks, and the greenway trails that run through the Meramec valley.
Campgrounds in the immediate area range from full-service resorts to smaller residential-style parks. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Six Flags and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resort cater to families with pools and character programming, while St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday offers standard KOA amenities near the interstate. Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage and Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates provide simpler hookup options for travelers who prefer a quieter base.
Most sites offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer, with pull-through access available for larger rigs heading into the metro area.
Things to do near Valley Park
Six Flags St. Louis is the headline attraction, a short drive west on I-44 with roller coasters and a seasonal water park. Route 66 State Park sits just across the river and covers the former resort town of Times Beach, with a visitor center in a restored roadhouse.
The Meramec Greenway connects trails, boat launches, and fishing access along the river. Castlewood State Park offers hiking and mountain biking on bluff-top trails, and Lone Elk Park and the World Bird Sanctuary are nearby for wildlife viewing.
Downtown St. Louis is under thirty minutes away, putting the Gateway Arch, City Museum, Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park, and Missouri Botanical Garden within an easy day trip from any base camp in the Valley Park area.

The Valley Park area follows a four-season humid continental pattern. Spring runs from March through May and is the wettest stretch of the year, with frequent thunderstorms and a peak severe-weather risk. Tornadoes are most likely in spring but can also occur in fall, so RV travelers should monitor NWS St. Louis alerts and know each campground's shelter plan.
Summer brings hot and humid conditions, with temperatures reaching ninety degrees on roughly thirty-five to forty days per year and occasional stretches above one hundred. This is peak booking season, driven by Six Flags traffic and school breaks, so reserve early.
Fall cools quickly through September and October and generally offers the most stable camping weather. Winter is cold with regular but modest snowfall averaging around eighteen inches per season across the metro. Some private campgrounds reduce hours or close amenities in the coldest months, while nearby state parks with campgrounds remain open year-round with limited off-season services.

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. How to book near Valley Park
Private campgrounds around Valley Park take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park properties and St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA Holiday use branded booking portals that let travelers filter by rig length, hookup type, and cabin options. Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage and Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates handle bookings directly and may require a phone call for extended stays.
Missouri State Parks campgrounds are booked through the state system at icampmo.com, which accepts reservations up to twelve months in advance. Route 66 State Park itself is day-use only. Peak-season weekends around Six Flags openings and holidays sell out well in advance, so book six to eight weeks ahead for summer arrivals.
What to expect
Expect a suburban St. Louis setting rather than a wilderness one. Most campgrounds sit near I-44 or state highways, which means quick access to grocery stores, fuel, and dump stations, along with some road noise at sites closest to the interstate.
Summer sites are family-heavy, with pools, playgrounds, and organized activities at the Jellystone resorts. The KOA leans toward a mix of overnight travelers passing through on Route 66 and longer-stay families. Cell coverage is strong across all major carriers, and most parks offer Wi-Fi at varying speeds.
Meramec River flooding can affect low-lying parks after heavy spring rain, so confirm current conditions with the campground before arrival during wet stretches.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Valley Park, MO
What does it cost to rent an RV in Valley Park, MO?
RV rental in Valley Park is one of the most affordable ways to explore the St. Louis region. Travel trailers typically list around $75 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes generally run $150 to $250, and larger Class A coaches can reach $300 or more. Weekday pickups (Sunday through Thursday) often beat weekend pricing, and booking 6+ weeks ahead for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends helps lock in better rates before Six Flags St. Louis crowds drive demand up. For a cheap RV rental in Valley Park, filter by travel trailers and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: a Tuesday-to-Thursday mini-trip to Meramec State Park is a great sweet spot for first-timers.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Valley%20Park%2C%20MissouriWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Valley Park?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Valley Park. Missouri's standard Class F passenger license covers personal-use recreational vehicles, so no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement is required, even for a larger Class A motorhome or fifth wheel. To rent on RVezy you generally need to be 25 or older with a valid license from a US state or Canadian province. Visiting from overseas? Bring an International Driving Permit along with your home license. RVezy verifies your ID through the platform, so check-in is fast and paperless.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance or protection included when I rent an RV in Valley Park, MO?
Every RVezy booking in Valley Park comes with a protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in, so you're covered from the moment you pull off the lot. During checkout you'll choose the renter protection plan that fits your trip, and each tier covers physical damage to the RV up to its plan limits. This is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides real financial protection on the road. Hosts cannot downgrade your coverage; you select it. Pro tip: if it's your first time renting an RV, choosing a higher tier costs a little more per night but lets you relax on I-44 instead of stressing over every gravel ping.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Valley Park RV trip?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy. Refunds depend on how far out your trip is at the time of cancellation, and the same policy applies across every listing, so you won't see different rules on different RVs. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook. If plans change due to severe weather or a natural disaster (like the spring storms and flooding that can hit the Meramec River through Valley Park), message RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options. Pro tip: book early for the best selection, knowing the cancellation policy is consistent and transparent.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Valley Park?
Absolutely, and your pup is going to love it. Plenty of hosts on RVezy offer pet-friendly RV rentals in Valley Park; just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Once you have a rig, Valley Park is a dog lover's dream: Castlewood State Park's Meramec River trails are leash-friendly, Lone Elk Park lets dogs ride along on the wildlife loop, and Greensfelder County Park has miles of shaded paths. Most St. Louis County campgrounds welcome leashed pets, including Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Six Flags. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees and bring a portable water bowl, summer humidity here is no joke.
mostateparks.com/page/55043/pets-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Valley Park?
Yes, and RV delivery in Valley Park is one of the smartest moves for first-time renters. Many local hosts offer to drive the motorhome or travel trailer right to your campground, set it up, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Popular drop-off spots include Route 66 State Park, Babler State Park, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Six Flags, plus private driveways anywhere in St. Louis County. Just use the Delivery filter when searching listings. Pro tip: delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location, so booking a host near Valley Park or Fenton keeps that cost low.
stlouisco.gov/How far can I drive on a Valley Park RV trip, and how does mileage work?
You've got plenty of range from Valley Park, which sits right on I-44 with the whole Midwest at your doorstep. Hosts set their own mileage policies, ranging from generous daily allowances (100 to 150 free miles per day) to RV rentals with unlimited mileage. From Valley Park you can reach Lake of the Ozarks in about 2.5 hours (140 miles), Mark Twain National Forest in 2 hours, Memphis in 4.5 hours (290 miles), Branson in roughly 4 hours (250 miles), and Chicago in about 5 hours (300 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning an RV road trip from Valley Park toward the Ozarks or Route 66, filter for unlimited mileage upfront so you can wander without watching the odometer.
modot.org/Where are the best campgrounds near Valley Park, MO for RV camping?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Valley Park for RV camping include St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in nearby Eureka (full hookups, pool, just minutes from Six Flags), Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Six Flags (huge family-friendly resort with water play areas), Route 66 State Park (a hidden gem on the Meramec River), Babler State Park (forested electric sites about 25 minutes west), and Meramec State Park near Sullivan (full hookups, river access, and the famous Fisher Cave tour). All offer easy access from I-44. Pro tip: weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day book up fast, so reserve 2 to 3 months ahead.
mostateparks.com/park/route-66-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Valley Park?
April through early June and September through October are the sweet spots for RV camping in Valley Park. Spring delivers highs in the 65 to 80°F range with everything blooming along the Meramec, while fall brings crisp 60 to 75°F days, fewer bugs, and brilliant oak-hickory color in the Ozark foothills. July and August get hot and humid (mid-80s to low 90s with sticky dew points), so if you go in summer, book a rig with strong air conditioning and a shaded site. Winter RVing is possible too, with January lows around 25°F. Pro tip: late September weekends often have perfect weather and lower nightly rates than peak summer.
weather.gov/lsx/I've never rented an RV before. What should I expect at pickup?
First time renting an RV? You're going to be fine, and your host has your back. At pickup (or delivery), your Valley Park host walks you through a hands-on orientation: how to operate the awning, slide-outs, generator, propane stove, fresh and gray water tanks, the toilet, and the AC. Most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes, and many hosts send a short video ahead of time so you arrive prepared. You can message your host anytime during the trip with questions, and RVezy's support team is available 24/7. Pro tip: take photos and a quick phone video of the walkthrough so you can rewatch how to dump tanks or fire up the heater later.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/rv-camping.htmWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking in Valley Park includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're on I-44 outside Valley Park, deep in Mark Twain National Forest, or pulled over at Lake of the Ozarks. Roadside assistance handles common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to a qualified repair shop. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick questions like why the water pump isn't turning on. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and tire size at pickup, it speeds up roadside calls if you ever need them.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Valley Park RV rental on a multi-state road trip?
Absolutely, multi-state road trips from Valley Park are some of the best in the country. You can drive your RV rental across US state lines; just give your host a heads-up about your route so they know where the rig is headed. Popular itineraries include Route 66 west through Cuba and Springfield into Oklahoma, a Tennessee swing down to Memphis and Nashville (about 4 to 5 hours away), or a northern loop through Hannibal and into Iowa. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, and cross-border trips into Canada depend on the host and insurance coverage, so confirm in messages before booking. Pro tip: a 7 to 10 day Route 66 RV road trip from Valley Park is a bucket-list classic.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Valley Park RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable, but it's easy to plan. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes get around 10 to 14 mpg, and Class A coaches typically run 7 to 10 mpg. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Missouri's average gas price tends to sit below the national average, and the QuikTrip and Casey's stations along I-44 around Valley Park, Eureka, and Pacific are RV-friendly with high canopies and pull-through lanes. For a 4-day trip with 400 miles of driving in a Class C, budget roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up before crossing into urban St. Louis where prices climb 20 to 40 cents per gallon.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Valley Park?
For Missouri State Parks like Babler, Meramec, and Route 66 State Park, reservations open up to 12 months in advance through icampmo1.usedirect.com, and summer weekends often sell out 2 to 4 months ahead. Private parks like the Route 66 KOA and Yogi Bear's Jellystone at Six Flags fill even earlier for July 4th, Memorial Day, and Labor Day. Shoulder-season weekends (April, May, September, October) are usually bookable 3 to 6 weeks out. Pro tip: if your dream campground shows full, check back midweek; cancellations are common, and the Missouri State Parks site updates inventory throughout the day.
icampmo1.usedirect.com/MOCampWeb/What are local driving conditions like around Valley Park?
Driving in and around Valley Park is very RV-friendly. The town sits right off I-44 and Highway 141, both of which are wide, well-maintained, and easy to navigate in a motorhome or with a trailer. You'll want to avoid downtown St. Louis side streets and the older brick-arched bridges in Forest Park (clearance issues), and take Highway 40/I-64 instead if you're crossing the city. Winter can bring occasional ice storms from December through February, so check forecasts before heading out. The Meramec River bottoms can flood after heavy spring rain. Pro tip: if you're nervous about city traffic, book RV delivery and skip the drive entirely; many hosts deliver right to your campground.
traveler.modot.org/Where can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Valley Park?
You've got several convenient options. Most full-hookup campgrounds near Valley Park (St. Louis West / Route 66 KOA, Yogi Bear's Jellystone, and full-service loops at Meramec State Park) include dump stations and potable water for guests. Missouri State Parks like Babler and Route 66 State Park offer dump stations seasonally, typically April 1 through October 31, with hot showers and laundry at most locations. Many I-44 truck stops near Eureka and Pacific (Flying J, Pilot) also have RV dump lanes for a small fee. Pro tip: dump your tanks the morning you leave the campground; you'll arrive home empty and ready for next time, and most state park dump stations are free for registered campers.
mostateparks.com/activity/campingWhat's inside a typical Valley Park RV rental? Beds, kitchen, bathroom, Wi-Fi?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Valley Park sleeps 4 to 8 with a mix of queen beds, convertible dinettes, and bunks, and comes with a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, basic cookware), a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, AC, heat, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most rigs include a TV and many have a backup generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi is hit or miss; some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others don't, so message before booking if you need to work on the road. Pro tip: in summer humidity, look for a rental with dual roof ACs, they make a real difference on 90°F St. Louis afternoons.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/393.93What add-ons and pickup options do Valley Park RV hosts offer?
Lots of perks make a Valley Park RV trip easier. Hosts commonly offer add-ons like camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, bikes, kayaks, generators, propane refills, and pet packages. Pickup and dropoff are usually flexible; many hosts let you grab the rig the evening before and return it the morning after for a small fee, giving you more vacation hours. Mileage policies vary, so look for unlimited mileage if you're heading to Branson, Memphis, or out along Route 66. Pro tip: bundling the linen and kitchen kits saves a Costco run and means you can roll out within an hour of pickup.
usa.gov/road-trip-planningHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple, secure, and handled entirely through the RVezy platform, never in cash with the host. You pay a portion at booking to lock in your dates, and the balance is charged before your trip starts. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good condition. Pro tip: do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup and dropoff, take date-stamped photos of the exterior, interior, and odometer, and you'll sail through the deposit release without any back-and-forth.
